Thanks for reading my book and leaving that wonderful comment at the end! It made my day :) As for the idea, I talk a little about some behind the scenes stuff of The Art of the Hustle on the latest episode of the Edward Mullen Podcast (free on iTunes or my website). But if you don't want to listen to that. I was inspired by Donald Trump's first book called The Art of the Deal. But Trump grew up rich. As much as I liked the book, most people probably can't relate to it. Some other rags to riches stories like the Social Network are unrelatable as well since most people are not geniuses that drop out of Harvard because it was too easy. So I wanted to write a story about an average guy who has to deal with real life situations like bad grades, looking for work, dealing with shitty people, and having relationship issues.
