Thomas de Kooning is the pseudonym for an orthopedic surgeon who is known internationally for the medical devices he has invented and the new surgeries he has developed. All told he has over 250 patents and was recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award in Medicine.

After many years of medical practice de Kooning has moved on to create a fictional world around Private Eye Ramone Ramone. This character began as an amusement for some friends, but soon Ramone took on a life of his own. This who-dunnit series includes The Corsican Dove, The Beijing Duck, and The Gallic Chicken.

De Kooning has two other books nearing completion. One is a fantasy epic called Ahop which is a character driven tale and has only magic that could possibly happen. This restraint on magic creates a different kind of tension that doesn't occur flying on broom sticks and such. Also in the wings is a non-fiction autobiography told via his oil paintings. He has painted for over 45 years and has held one man shows on both coasts.

In fact the covers for The Corsican Dove, The Beijing Duck, and The Gallic Chicken were painted by the author. See also below shows of Ramone Ramone PI in his office.
