            glancing  down  at  the  swatches  of  fur  ,     her  eyes  glistened  when  she  took  notice  of  a  plain  white  swatch  ,    filled  with  glitter  .     it  was  pretty  -  it  reminded  her  of  the  snow  ,     maybe  even  a  bit  of  the  clouds  above  .     pointing  at  the  swatch  that  caught  her  eye  ,     she  gave  the  boy  a  bewildered  look  .     “  wonderland  …  right  ?     you  should  take  me  there  one  day  —  i  ’  d  love  to  go  !  ”

he rolled his eyes, but not all too seriously. just enough to get his point across. “i did say i’d ‘given away’ those 7,000 hats, didn’t i? it’s a free service. i travel between worlds. currency from one world might be useless in the next, so there’s no point in asking for payment. i make hats just to make hats.” he reached back into his top hat, fishing out an array of fur swatches. all of them differed in color. “they’re faux. beautiful, nonetheless, and very soft. perfect for your headband. take your pick.”

            her  hues  widened  —  he  called  her  a  nickname  !     her  cheeks  flushed  a  light  shade  of  pink  ,     suddenly  coming  back  to  her  senses  .     “  oh  —  do  i  have  to  pay  -  ?     i  don  ’  t  have  my  money  on  me  right  now  …  gosh  -  i  ’  m  such  a  mess  …  ”
