no, u can’t fully understand someone unless you’ve been in their shoes. u can’t claim that u know what they feel when u never experienced what they went through.
          
          but u can be kind with them. u can be gentle with them. u can be compassionate. that’s enough. it’s more than enough

we talk a lot about cutting people off, but nobody talks about the grief that comes with having to stand firm on that decision knowing it’s not what you wanted but what was necessary for your well-being.
