Pickle couldn't wait.
He couldn't wait to finally run away with his 5 friends.
For months, he had dreamed of this to happen--to finally escape from his suffocating home. And now today it was finally happening.
--
After a 14-year-old Pickle had just finished packing his Walkman (with all of his ABBA, MJ and Duran Duran cassette tapes), his G.I. Joe action figures, his comics and journal into his bag, he trudged down the clunky stairs.
He had told his parents he was just going to hang out with some friends for the night. So his mom set a strict 12PM curfew for tomorrow and told him to have fun.
After Pickle (happily) said goodbye to his parents (and all the horrible memories they shared), he ran outside, where Taco was waiting there with the others.
He almost tackled her in a hug. "Yo! T! How ya doing?" He looked severely overjoyed, even during the warm rain which was soaking his curly green hair, in which the rain was also paired with lightning.
Taco almost fell over from the force of the embrace, but she hugged him back, and then gestured to their getaway vehicle of choice.
It was a beat down '79 Chevy Nova that she "borrowed" from her grandpa. He was born in 1899, and had very bad dementia, so he didn't think she had any bad intentions with it. Let alone he didn't think he even had a car.
"Get in, Picky-Pick!" She laughed. "We're burning daylight!--I mean midnight."
And so Pickle slung his bag over his shoulder and hopped in.
