somewhere in the pacific ocean . . .

"Subject A1448, come forward!"

A lean boy stepped forward, forced by the circumstances in which he has found himself. Mechanic cuffs held his wrists together and weighted on both his ankles. Jets of cold water hit him from all sides for three full seconds before the doors of his cell opened.

It wasn't the frozen atmosphere, nor the humidity that worked against him, but the pressure. The base at which he was brought for containment a month ago was at the lowest reachable point in the Pacfic Ocean and every guard he has met, or person there for that matter, apart from him, wore a technical suit to resist the ear-ringing pressure.

Adam didn't, so he felt it all.

With each step out of his cell, he felt his head falling prey to dizziness. His feet were the embodiment of how flees on a broken channel looked. In fact, his whole senses were brought down to that.

He walked rather odd, bouncing and balancing himself on one foot at a time, making so his blonde curls of hair move like waves, even if dirty and wet.

These people knew high pressure was Adam's only kryptonite when they came for him. Everything else was just a fable he had no strength to consider as four guards flanked him on the side now, walking beside him.

"Where are you taking me?" He mumbled, ending up groaning instead at the end. Feeling the pressure the way he did just then was comparable only to fictional writings, describing a person's brain turn into liquid.

All four guards carried sonic weapons, the same type that knocked him out back in Berlin from where they took him. It was that funny to be a mutant: as much as great figures in your society tried to fight for you, there were still no laws making sure you have the basic human rights.

Adam was grabbed from the streets, but he knew no one would be looking for him. And frankly, he knew his question was stupid too. With powers like his, he was aware he'd either be a test subject or a weapon, neither option something he'd want.

There was no freedom unless you never got caught.

And Adam learnt it was never about who caught it, because one would be just as chained with the X-Men as with the Anchor, the organization he wad the prisoner of now. All prisoners are treated the same, so he felt a blast from the sonic gun hit him in the back of his head, adding more pressure over the existing one.

He has been down there for two days, so while his ears and nose bled in the beginning, now, the red came out over a dry crimson path.

"No need to silence the boy," a much clearer voice came from ahead. Adam was unaware of how much he had walked through this underwater base until he realized he was in the docking areas, right in front of a ship waiting for him.
