On Tuesday, Cathy went straight home after class had ended. Her mind still got occupied by the essay that Alex wanted her to write about.

The Vesperian legend.

And yet, she never heard about it until he told her yesterday.

He said there was not much information left about the legend out there. It would be much harder to look up about it on the internet if the old library didn't even have it.

The private library she had visited yesterday didn't have a book about the legend. She didn't know where to start looking for it if it was not even on the internet.

Nevertheless, she had to try her luck.

She had been exploring the search engine for about an hour and so, but nothing she could find about it. Until the question came up inside of her head; did the legend really exist?

Alex said it was the forbidden legend. There was something that the people in the past felt afraid about it. Somehow, there was a curse that following the story itself.

It was the story about an imperial queen, who was murdered by her own bloodline.

Cathy was told by him that apart from the royal history, the legend somehow revolved around the supernatural world of Angel and Demon.

But if it was really true, why nobody wrote about it on the internet?

Right at the moment, Cathy regretted to ever suggest him about the essay. She already lost hope to gain the extra score. She quickly closed her laptop to take a break.

While sitting on the bed with both hands rested on her legs, her dark brown eyes stared away at the glass window. Cathy and her mom got a separate bedroom in Aunt Sarah's place. She could have her own private space here.

At the time, her mind kept assuring herself that college life would turn out well this year. If she couldn't get an extra score from him, she believed there would be another opportunity again. And she might have to study harder to get through the first semester.

It was around two p.m. when Cathy tried to write the beginning of her essay. She just wanted to draft an intro. But not even a single idea came to her. She felt hopeless again.

Cathy wanted to mark some things she needed to search. But when she tried to find the yellow highlighter, she couldn't find it inside of her desk's drawer.

She immediately went downstairs to ask her mom. At the time, her mom and her aunt were about leaving to the supermarket nearby.

"Wait, Mom!" Cathy shouted out at her. "Did you borrow my yellow highlighter?"

Haile glanced at her and shouted back, "Oh, yes, I forgot to return it to you, darling. I was using it to mark my grocery list. It's still in my bedroom."

Before her mom walked toward the door, Cathy asked again, "What time will you get home?"

"We're gonna be quick. Just stay home, alright?" Her mom said and gave her a goodbye kiss.

Once they left the house, Cathy immediately went into her mom's bedroom. This bedroom had a rustic design. The furniture was made of dark woods, while her room was mostly filled with the light shade of grayish-blue color.

Her eyes quickly searched around. And there she saw her yellow highlighter laid on the bed. When she took it, her eyes noticed something on the floor. Next to the cabinet drawer, there was a box and some messy stuff which her mom had not tidied up.

Cathy wanted to clean it up for her mom. But when she bent down, her eyes found a journal with a brown leather cover on the floor.

"What is this?" She murmured, wondering.
