The main area of campus was huge. The field was crowded by the students. People were running a marathon, while others were reading a book, chatting with each other, or just chewing a gum.
And the brown building in the area looked like an ancient castle. This was Fordham University.
The first Monday of September 2012, the first day Cathy and Josh went to college. They were about to start a new phase of life here.
Jordan just arrived when they were on the way to the main building. He greeted them excitedly, "Josh! Cathy! I'm glad we made it here—"
"Don't start. I don't want us looking like three musketeers," Josh snapped, annoyed.
Cathy punched him lightly to warn him to be nice. And then she smiled at Jordan. "Hey! I heard you're enrolled in English major like us. That's great. Maybe we can go to classes together."
Josh immediately bulged his eyes at her and whispered, "Seriously? Together?"
However, Cathy didn't care when he felt annoyed about it. She just wanted to be nice.
As soon as they walked toward the building's terrace, people were suddenly murmuring. They looked hectic about something.
Cathy was looking back and forth at them, bewilderingly. "What happens?"
"I've heard a rumor about that girl," Jordan whispered as he beckoned his chin at the white girl dressed in a quilted black jacket.
People kept on stealing a glance at that girl with fierce blue eyes. Nobody dared to look right in her eyes. It seemed people were surprised at her arrival in the university.
When the girl walked arrogantly and swooshed her platinum-blonde hair, people could sense her majestic charisma. As soon as she entered the door, people began to make a noise.
Jordan told them again, "I've heard she comes from a very wealthy family from Germany. She moved here for college, while her family has political business in New York."
"People seem afraid of her. Don't you see that?" Josh muttered bewilderingly. "And she seems pretty famous, huh?"
"She's a trouble young lady, she has an attitude problem though," Jordan continued talking. "No one dare to get closer to Eleanor Heisler, especially to her grandmother. Ugh, she's the scariest in that family."
Cathy narrowed her eyebrows as she asked him, "What do you mean? And how do you know about all this?"
"The reason why I came to live here; because my dad works as an NYPD cop. And I heard about the rumor from him," Jordan explained. "The government had this top secret project with Eleanor's family."
Josh looked at him in disbelief. "You're kidding me, right? So, it's like in the movie, huh? The government's top secret project and their stupid conspiracy theory—"
"I don't know much about that part, but I know pretty well about their family's background. Just yesterday, I looked up about them on the internet," Jordan spoke like a real nerd this time.
However, Cathy demanded to know, "Tell us."
"Eleanor born as a German royal from House of Heisler. She's also part of the terrifying aristocrat group known as White Foxes. They are the elite people. Her grandmother, Lady Marie de Clure is the group's leader. Her grandpa was a professor in Fordham, but he's been sick and there's no further news about him."
"You're skipping the history about her parents, where are they?" Josh asked wonderingly.
Jordan then looked at them cautiously. "They're dead."
