All I heard were cries of angels due to the pain of losing someone really important because of incompetence and laziness.
All I could feel were anger and guilt. If only I wasn't lazy. If only I did something then I could've saved hundreds of soldiers who died protecting our home and our people. If only I immediately told them.
FLASHBACK
"Sir, an angel told us a piece of information with regards to the upcoming war. The enemy planned to attack earlier than they had planned to take us by surprise. I cannot tell others because I am very occupied about this matter. " my superior told me as he was preparing to leave.
"I will inform the council, sir. Rest assured." I gave him assurance.
He nodded and bid me goodbye. I was also very busy because there is a lot of paperwork and reports that are needed to be passed later. So I made a letter stating the information left by the superior and asked a guard standing outside my door to deliver my message to the council. He then left to send my message. At least that's what I thought.
END OF FLASHBACK
I should've sent the letter personally. I should've never trusted anyone about a piece of very important information. As much as I want to turn back time to correct my mistake, I can't. Now, I can't do anything but wish. I watched as dead bodies are being carried into the hall, waiting for their families to come and give their final blessings before the burial. I watched as people flood the hall, busy finding their loved ones whether they survived or not. I watched as they cry and scream in pain at the loss of their families. All because of me. Me, who did nothing but procrastinate and was too careless to entrust my duty to a traitor of a guard.
I felt hands grabbed my arms and forcefully dragged me inside the council room. I knew what's next. Banishment. No excuses. My explanation won't be recognized. I knew that. I accept that. What I cannot accept is the traitor standing beside a superior, smirking at me. He must be delighted knowing that I will be banished no matter what excuse I might present to the judge.
"YOU KNEW ABOUT THE ATTACK BUT YOU NEVER TOLD US?! YOU TRAITOR!" a superior yelled, mad.
"Yes sir, I knew about the attack and I sent one of my guards to send my letter to you, but it never reached you," I said.
"Which guard?" he asked.
"Sir, the guard beside the fourth superior." I glared at the guard who betrayed me.
"Did he gave you a letter to be sent to the council?" he asked the guard.
I knew he won't risk himself. He will never admit it. He never wanted me to stay here.
"No sir. He was inside his office all day long. Never did he once got out from his office." he smirked at me, unnoticed by the superior.
I sighed. Might as well think about what I'm gonna do in the realm of darkness.
"By the power vested in me, the punishment of banishment is bestowed upon Min Yoongi, the angel of sloth. I declare Min Yoongi a fallen angel and will never set foot in the paradise ever again," he said and left.
The guard laughed at me and left. I wasn't sad that I was banished and betrayed. I was sad knowing that a lot of soldiers died because of me. But I really can't do anything now. I faced the people who are still crying at the loss of their loved ones and bowed at them. They will never forgive me. And I accept my fate. I turned around and left, entered the realm of darkness, only to be welcomed by two men, with their black wings spread widely, smirking at me.
"Welcome home, brother," they said.
I let my wings out, those once white wings are now pitch black, and it is even more beautiful than ever. I spread it widely, accepting their welcoming 'ceremony'.
And there, I had my new brothers, Wrath, and Gluttony. With my past forgotten, I am now Min Yoongi, the angel of sloth, a fallen angel.
