Fallen 2: GLUTTONY

Give me everything and I shall accept. But why me?

"Come on, man. You should stop now. If you get caught, don't turn to me. This is your doing brother." I warned a friend but was never acknowledged. I have been by his side ever since we were in diapers and he is like a brother to me. I can't risk him being caught and punished by the council. The worst case is being banished.

I turned around and left, towards the dining hall where the rest are. I went to the table where it was full of desserts and picked a cookie. I was eating when guards burst into the room. It was rare to witness guards in the dining hall. The next thing I knew, we were at the council room where punishments were to be discussed. Sitting in the middle was a guy covered in bruises and has cuffs binding his hands. It was my friend! My friend whom I left behind to satisfy my hunger. He got caught.

"We are gathered here tonight, in the midst of our gathering, because this creature sitting in the middle was caught,  sneaking around the forbidden hall. We are to give him the punishment he deserves." 

'That can't be very bad right? He had a curious soul. He did nothing but look around right?'

There I started convincing myself that my friend won't be punished that badly. But I was only fooling myself. It was the forbidden hall he sneaked around in. I knew his punishment is the worst.

"Who allowed you in the forbidden hall, boy?" the judge asked. "No one, sir. I sneaked my way in." my friend answered. "Then who ordered you to do so?" the judge asked again. "No one, sir. I got very curious so I sneaked in the forbidden hall, sir." I can tell my friend was very scared. Of course, he will be punished very badly. Who wouldn't be scared? 

"Very well, your punishment has been decided. It will be banishment. Will you accept it?" asked the judge.

Murmurs echoed the large room. He will be banished! He won't be able to come and see his family ever again! Flashbacks started appearing in my mind, his smiles and laughs when he was with his family. I can't let him be banished. And I did something no one has the courage to do so.

"I claim his punishment!" and there, people in the room hushed, and my friend reacted as if he had seen a ghost. He had a good soul. He cannot be punished with banishment. He has a family. I don't. He will lose everything. I don't have anything to lose.

"No! Don't do this! I was the one who sneaked in." my friend convinced me to take back my claim. I looked at him and smiled. I had saved him. That's what matters. " I was the one who ordered him to sneak in the forbidden hall." I lied. He cried. 

"By the power vested in me, the banishment has been lifted upon the angel named Tom. Jin, the angel of gluttony, will be banished from heaven and never to set foot in paradise ever again."

There, I became a dark angel, the fallen angel of gluttony. I looked at my friend who was sobbing while in the arms of his mother and smiled. "Farewell, brother," I whispered and I know he heard it because he sobbed even harder. His mother cried too. I smiled at them and waved them goodbye, I was forbidden to touch them for I was already banished. I looked at their faces one last time, turned around, and walked away, towards my new world, the realm of darkness.

"Welcome home, brother." I lifted my head and there, I had my new brother, Namjoon, the fallen angel of wrath.
