The matter became more serious than what it was before. The camp's administrative board was also informed, and Jamie was called into an immediate video conference call whilst Cassidy was second in charge.
Whitney, too innocent to keep a secret to herself, informed the detective privately about how Jessica manipulated everyone in their group. This opened further leads into the case. Hopefully it'd be soon that he'd solve it or else there'd be more paperwork if it take any longer.
From their evidence, they concluded that the culprit had been a male, most probably or a very strong female. There was a camp leader on watch, ensuring that no boy or girl crossed over to the other side. Therefore, if they were male, he'd had hidden somewhere unseen before everyone was sent to their tents. And so, the forensics team began searching for such indications, but could find none.
The detective then started looking into possible motives:
-Mirah
According to Whitney, Jessica is at fault for why she got left behind in the woods. Lucas is in love with Jessica
-Asher
He'd do anything for her. He loves Mirah.
-John
Claims Jessica had been mean to many individuals, himself included.
-Cory
Confessed to killing Jessica because of shock, although he has no idea how she died.
Roland looked over his list plenty times, interviewing John and the individuals he mentioned. Apparently Jessica had been breaking up relationships from a young age. She may or may not have been involved in the divorces of a few families before. None of the individuals or John had confessed to hurting anyone to such extremes before.
The detective scratched out John and Cory off his list. Poor Cory, what terrifies him so? he thought. Despite the evidence, he thought about Mirah the most. She had the strongest motive after all.
What if they worked together? Absolutely plausible; Mirah couldn't have hit Jessica according to forensics. Asher couldn't have crossed the line between the boys and girls, unless he was hiding out in Mirah's tent.
"They're bloody teenagers!" Cassidy interfered the gentleman's conversation.
"Aren't we always warned about how they're not to be underestimated?" Roland questioned. Jamie lowered his gaze, looking at Cassidy leaning against the office desk.
The detective issued a request, "I would like to view their medical files; if you have access to them, that'd be wonderful," he smiled despite the horrific circumstances. Luckily, there'd be no need to call for the hospitals or either one of their parents for them. Jamie pulled out two large brown envelopes from an even larger cupboard.
As though he knew what to search for, he opened Mirah's reports first. Cassidy and Jamie shared a look, keeping quiet and examining the detective's eyes scanning the written words. With a quiet but forceful thud, he flips the papers to one side, then slides Asher's closer. After finding the page he wanted, he turned the portfolio around so they could see for themselves. He laid back into the chair and folded his hands behind his head.
"Thought so," was all he said.
