"Your sibling sounds so cool," Awsten says, reaching over to rub my hand while he focuses ahead on the road.
"Yeah, I miss them a lot and it's not the same without them," I respond. "They're a huge fan of yours too, so be prepared for that."
"Cute," he grins. "I'm excited."
Awsten and I were driving to the airport pick up my sibling Piper and their girlfriend Daisy. They live in NYC, and I hardly ever get to see the two, so I'm really glad they're both coming out.
Piper is an artist, like a really good one, and Daisy is an author. Right now, they're working on a children's book together so it's taken up a lot of their time.
I stare out my window, and try to focus on the passing landscape. I don't know why but whenever I see someone I haven't seen in a long time I get this knot in my stomach, and I feel extremely nervous. As soon as I see the person, though, it goes away.
Once we finally reach the airport, Awsten and I weave our way through the crowds, laughing at the stares people give his bright hair. He laces his fingers through mine, and I feel blood rising in my cheeks.
We sit down on a bench and I check my phone, making sure I didn't miss a text from Piper. My leg starts shaking, which is an old habit of mine when I get apprehensive.
"Hey, are you okay? You seem nervous," Awsten nudges me, meeting my eyes.
"Yeah, I'm okay, just a bit... I don't know. I haven't seen Piper and Daisy in so long, what if they've changed? What if I've changed too much for them? What if Piper hates the fact I'm dating their favorite singer?"
Awsten wraps an arm around me. "Don't overthink this. You're their sister, Willow. They won't just start hating you because you happen to be dating someone very cool. If I'm being honest, Piper will love you even more now because it's a free pass to meet me. They're probably just as nervous as you are."
I nod, feeling better. Just then I get a text from Piper saying they've landed, and I pull Awsten up so we're standing. I see Piper's head of ginger hair, and soon enough they barrel into me like a bull, almost knocking me down.
"Willow! Hi! I'm back!" Piper exclaims, hugging me. "Its been way too long, I missed you."
"Yeah, yeah, that's cool, now let me see your girlfriend," I say, squirming out of Piper's grasp and running toward Daisy.
"Hi love! How've you been?" Daisy asks when I pull away from the hug.
"I've been alright, I've missed you both though," I respond. I grab Piper's hand and start pulling them along. "Come on, Piper, you'll like this."
I lead them along to Awsten, and they come to a full stop when they see the bright green hair.
Awsten smiles at Piper. "Dude, it's fucking tight to meet you, Willow's told me a lot about you."
Piper stares at him, shocked. I slap their arm, smiling. "Piper, introduce yourself, it's rude to stare."
"Oh- yeah, I'm sorry, I just like, love you a lot, I've been a fan since 2017, I love your music, I can't believe this is happening- shit, sorry, I'm, uh, Piper, and this is my girlfriend, Daisy."
He hugs Piper, and they look so happy, it makes me smile.
"They're gonna like him more than me," Daisy whispers to me.
I laugh, then once Piper's out of the hug, I pull their hand and lead them to my car.

We reach the hotel they were staying at, and Piper and Daisy drop their stuff and look around. They get their stuff set up and once they're satisfied, they tell me they're both gonna go explore LA on their own. Awsten and I decide we're just gonna go back to my place, and once we get there I drop my head on Awsten's chest.
"They are both so exhausting," I groan, wrapping my arms around his waist.
"I like them," Awsten says. "They balance each other out."
"I guess that's true, although half the time Daisy looks like a poor mom dragging her kid everywhere."
"Kind of like us," Awsten remarks.
"Nah, cause at least you're mature enough. Piper's just... crazy if you haven't noticed," I say.
"You only say that since they're your sibling," Awsten responds back. I roll my eyes and he starts making a quick dinner. While we eat we talk about anything and everything, and as soon as we're done Piper and Daisy come strutting through the door. We spend the rest of the night playing games but mostly we all talk to each other.
Once they leave for the night, Awsten and I watch a movie and halfway through he falls asleep, snoring. I smile and rest my head on his chest, slowly drifting off.
This was the most content I've ever felt. Life seems pretty perfect right now, and I don't want anything to change.
