*I do want to say that most of the backstory to Kirstine and her family is mainly based off of my own creativity*
*I also do not own any of the character's from the Outlander series and give credit to the creators*
*Other than that, I hope you enjoy this first chapter*

The summer light beamed through the glass windows of the building, making it warm and causing the atmosphere to be more welcoming. I could not comprehend my excitement, it was almost overbearing, yet I knew that this was a once in a lifetime thing, especially for me. My flight to Scotland was in less than thirty minutes, six o'clock to be exact. Due to the time of the year, the sun didn't set just quite yet despite it being evening already. I appreciated the cordial surroundings because of my dedication to this trip overall.
"You are crazy."
"You aren't going to get far in life if you just focus on Scottish history for a career."
"I can't believe you use all this money for a trip that won't benefit you instead of paying for your overpriced education!"
One would think that my family's comments would stop me from stepping aboard this flight, but I needed answers. I wanted to learn more about the passion I've had ever since my middle school years. Now, I'm twenty three with a master's degree in History. All this time, my relatives assumed that I planned on being a teacher, but they were clearly wrong about that.
Looking at the clock, my mind just desired the minutes to go faster so it would continue on to the next hour. By then, I would be in my seat on the plane probably listening to documentaries about the Battle of Culloden, the British Parliament, or the Jacobite Army. However, there was also my sudden urge to read my book about Scottish Colonial Settlers.
6:35 pm
An hour had already passed, and it seems like time is actually going faster than I expected. It wasn't long before the view from the window beside my seat was completely water from the ocean. The waves were either gentle and hardly subtle, or clashing against other ones vigorous, creating white foam. My mind may have been synonymous to the actions of the tides if it weren't for podcasts replenishing my boredom.
"The British really weren't playing around when they went against the Scots. I'm not surprised they won the Battle of Colloden....."
Those words made me roll my eyes. Yes, the British were strong, one of the strongest armies that ever existed, but the Scottish weren't pansies, they refused to back down and had a reasonable cause to fight against their enemy. Hundreds died that day, including many of my ancestors of the Adair family. Very few managed to survive, allowing them to fortunately migrate to the colonies and help the Adair name become well known.
Some of my ancestors came from Ireland, but I rather focus on the Scottish side of my family anyways since it corresponds to my overall interest in the culture itself. Being a historian allowed me to venture off into fact, which could very much be considered my own fantasy even though the majority of the research was true. I smiled as I got lost into my own thoughts, eventually imagining the perspective of living around the time of the Battle of Culloden.
