He never called!

Dude took my contacts and he never called!!!!!

What!!!!!!!!!!!

All that excitement for nothing!!!!!!!

Three days! For three days l was home and had my phone with me but he never freaking called!!!

Had he lost my number perhaps?

Lost his phone?

Had he forgotten about me that fast?

Or had it been a dare with Kevin to see if he could get my number?

Or was he just a phone number collector!

I couldn't fight off the racing thoughts in my head.

He was the cutest thing l had seen in forever, and for him to ask for my number had been wild!

Oh well, l sighed to myself, l guess that's as far as it would go.

I was now back at school, boarding school, and we had no access to phones because they weren't allowed, so all possibilities of knowing if Justin was going to try contacting me were Zero.

Great.

Just great.

"You seem lost in thought", my desk mate Ayanda said nudging me.

"I'm trying to come up with ideas of how to answer this composition assignment" l lied.

Ayanda rolled her eyes at me, "yeah right. You're thinking about man candy aren't you?"
I had told Ayanda along with two of my other close friends, of my encounter with Justin. It was the current hottest story among the four of us.

"Ayanda!" I gushed. I'd be completely scandalized if anybody heard us, "his name is Justin"

"Yeah but where's the fun in that" she teased, l scowled back at her.

She laughed, " don't worry Desky, you'll see him over the holiday I'm sure"

"But the holiday is still like 7 more weeks away" l whined. "What if he does eventually call and my number doesn't go through because my phone is switched off, and he thinks l lied to him"

"Then you'll just go back to Haefelis Cafe and pray he just shows up again - or we stalk Kevin."

I looked up and smiled at her last suggestion, "yes! That's genius!" I said giving Ayanda a quick hug, "thank you Desky!"

"Nooooowwww can we concentrate back to our schoolwork?"

In response l picked up my pen and started writing the composition.

School was okay really, l wasn't a bad student. But sometimes l struggled to figure out why l had to be there you know.
Especially because l had to learn like 10 different subjects.
The only thing l liked about learning languages was the stories we read for comprehension.
The only thing l liked about geography was learning about how natural disasters like volcanic eruptions, took place.
History was fun, l would pretend to be a spy in the Nguni State or a rock painter in the Mutapa state. It made remembering the stories easier.
I did quite like maths,  it was bearable. The science subjects were my least favorite, especially biology, there was just too much to learn about the heart, eye, kidney, ear, CNS, GIT geez! The rest of the subjects were okay.
