The morning part of the sports day carried on very well.
We successfully managed to avoid crossing paths with Tom. I did watch him race though, and l was impressed, he was really fast and it appeared he had improved a lot. He won his morning races and qualified into the provincial team.
Too bad this time l wouldn't be joining. But l wasn't too disappointed because l had Justin. Every day was exciting because it was a day to spend 10 minutes with Justin and get to know him better!
Speaking of Justin, l hadn't seen him today."Hey, have you seen Justin anywhere today?" I asked Thandie.
"Mm l think l did spot him seated with some other lower 6's by the shade" she said.
I nodded.
"Want us to go look for him?"
I smiled, this girl could read minds l tell you!
And so we went out to look for Justin.
Fortunately, we spotted him at a tap, filling up his water bottle.
"Hie Justin" l said smiling.
He looked up and saw us, "hie girls, how are you"
"Good" Thandie said then busied herself with emptying and washing her water bottle on the tap not far from Justin.
Justin had finished filling his bottle so we just stood there talking.
"Enjoying the sports day?"
"Yeah, it's actually quite interesting" he said his dark brown eyes twinkled as he smiled and my insides melted.
"I thought I'd see you competing today" l said.
"Nah" he laughed, "the opportunity was there but l just felt unfit"
"Okay" l said, "l saw Kevin running"
"Yeah the sports patron literally forced him, he didn't want to participate either"
"You're lucky you're new and they don't know your talents, otherwise you'd be like Kevin right now!"
"You're right! The sports patron here is very persuasive, doesn't take no for an answer!"
We stood there laughing, and talking about sports when all of a sudden, a girl came up and linked her arm with Justin's.
"Justin!" She smiled at him, "I've been looking for you"
"Oh er - l was talking to Kaitlin and her friend" Justin said as Thandie finally left the tap and made her way towards us to see what was going on.
"Oh hie" the girl said to us without a smile. I realized she was also in lower 6.
"Hie back" l answered."Well lets go, the others are waiting" the girl said giving me a nasty glare while pulling Justin away with her.
"Bye girls" Justin grinned, then he turned his attention to the girl as Thandie and l speechlessly watched them walk away.
When they were far from earshot, l turned to Thandie, "what's her name?"
"Not too sure," she murmured, "if it's not Sharon it's Stephanie - no Sharon didn't come back for lower 6, it must be Stephanie, yes!"
"Stephanie, okay" l repeated more to myself, looking at the direction they had disappeared to.
"The way they were linking arms though," Thandie remarked, "do you think they are just good friends or they are dating"
"Mm l wouldn't know, l honestly wouldn't know" l replied sadly, my bubble was burst.
"They are probably just friends, it's too soon for them to date, they just started lower 6" Thandie said comfortingly.
