Nineteen

~Tate's POV~

      Here I am, crying aloud and twitching. I'm in such pain I don't know how I'm still conscious. Jasper was right, it IS like being burned alive....slowly and in the most painful way possible. It feels like I'm being slow roasted. My head is burning, my heart is pounding. The pain rips through my entire body now, causing me to scream in so much agony that I barely heard Bella's cries. I look and see that he's grabbed Bella's leg so hard that he broke it.

      She cries in pain too and it hurts me to see that I'm basically letting this happen. The pain grows more and more excruciating every second that passes. I have no control of my body, yet it's occasionally jolting in different directions. I want to claw my face off as it feels like fire is getting more and more hot.

      It feels like someone poured gasoline on my very soul, lit a match, and tossed it on me. I can feel the venom ever so slowly pumping through my veins as if I just ate or swallowed something that's gone down the wrong pipe. Every beat, makes it just a bit faster towards my heart. I lay there writhing in pain while I hear glass break. I see Edward fall. Since when did he get here? Edward falls and I can barely focus on anything except for the pain. James bites Bella's arm. I can't believe she's going through this now. My screams are louder than hers, but they're not unheard.

      James is dragged through the floorboards, Edward on top of him. They get up and continue fighting until Edward slams James into a pillar, breaking a great deal of it. They start growling until Edward tears off a piece of this throat. Carlisle grabs Edwards shoulder while Jasper, Emmett and Alice jump down from somewhere above. I sob and cry out, writhing in pain on the floor as the pain is worse than every before.

      It's getting harder to breathe. Jasper rushes over and he looks like he's in as much pain as me. He's panicking and I'm growing more and more scared. Emmett has James, struggling to keep him in his arms, and yells, "Jasper, get the floorboards." He says to me solemnly, "I'll be right back." I just continue crying out and he rips up the floorboards. They grab him after grabbing as many floorboards needed and yell, "Alice!" I don't know how they did it, but the floorboards are on fire. Alice runs over, jumping on James, and twists his head off. Jasper growls as him and Emmett tip him apart, throwing the pieces into the fire. I don't hear Bella crying and screaming anymore so I hope that's a good sign.

      Everyone comes to me and I scream out, Carlisle standing there, "Kill me! Just kill me, PLEASE! I CANT STAND IT! KILL ME!" Jasper looks broken and Carlisle tells him, "You have to do it, Jasper." Jasper says, "You know I can't! I'm worse than Edward!" Carlisle yells, "If you don't, it'll be too late and she WILL turn." Alice says, "It WILL happen." Jasper chimes in, "But not right now." He takes a few deep breaths and says to me, "I'm so sorry." He lifts me up very carefully and bites the same place that James did. I continue crying out at first until after a few minutes, the pain is considerably less and I pass out, thinking of Jasper.

AT THE HOSPITAL

      I wake up to Bella and Edward talking. I gasp, scared, and lightly scream. Edward rushes over and says, "It's okay. It's okay. You're safe now." I ask, "Where are we?" He says, "The hospital. Carlisle took you guys here after what happened." I touch my neck, "Where's Jasper?" He looks at Bella and they both look down. He says, "He...he has to stay away right now. Just for the day. What he had to do, it was too much for him, but he'll be here for you tomorrow." I just nod and Bella says, "Mom and dad are outside; she's texting Phil." I ask, "Texting?" She nods and laughs, "I know." I say, "I think I'm gonna go back to sleep. Wake me up when it's time to leave." They nod and that's what I do but I can't believe that I did that to Jasper. That had to have been torture for him....I caused him pain and set back all the hard work he did.... I hope he can forgive me.
