Chapter Thirty Five

"HOCHZEITSURLAUB"

(WEDDING SURPRISE)

Morning sunlight crept through the curtains of Sungjae's bedroom, casting a warm glow over the tangled sheets. The room was quiet—too quiet—until suddenly—

"WHAT?!"

A shrill scream echoed from the next room. Sungjae's eyes flew open.

"What the—?!"

Beside him, Sooyoung jolted awake at the same time. They both moved too quickly, tangling in the sheets.

"Did someone die?!" Sooyoung gasped.

"I don't know—"

Sungjae tried to stand but his foot caught in the blanket. He stumbled forward right as Sooyoung slid off the bed.

"Whoa—!"

THUD.

Sungjae fell straight off the bed but instinctively wrapped his arms around Sooyoung before she hit the floor. They landed in a messy heap.

"...Ow," Sungjae groaned.

Sooyoung blinked, lying half on top of him. "Are you okay?"

"I cushioned the fall," he muttered.

From the next room—

"THIS CAN'T BE REAL!"

Sooyoung froze.

"That's Lisa."

Sungjae immediately pushed himself up. "Yeah, that definitely sounds like Lisa."

They scrambled to their feet, hair messy and still half asleep. Sungjae nearly tripped again trying to untangle himself from the blanket while Sooyoung grabbed the first hoodie she could find.

"What if something happened?!" she whispered urgently.

"Or she saw a spider," Sungjae said.

"That scream was too dramatic for a spider."

They rushed down the hallway and burst into the guest room. The scene inside looked like chaos. Lisa was sitting upright on the bed, completely frozen, staring at her phone like it had personally betrayed her. Meanwhile, on the floor—

"Ughhhh..." Mark groaned, clutching his chest like he'd just survived an earthquake.

Sungjae blinked. "Why are you on the floor?"

Mark slowly lifted his head. "Your friend screams like a horror movie ghost."he added weakly. "I fell off the bed,"

Sooyoung rushed over to the bed. "Lisa! What happened?!"

Lisa didn't respond. She simply raised her phone with trembling hands.

"I—" Her voice cracked. "I think the internet just broke my brain."
