Twenty Two

"Are you sure you want to sit here?" Haechan asked the human as Renjun let out a small nod sitting on the chair opposite them. He felt a lot better after taking a nap and after coming to know what the two were planning he couldn't help but stay in the room.

"I have a question..."  Renjun started as jeno hummed signaling him to continue. The monster was using his laptop for a video call.

"How did you guys learn how to operate these?" as soon as he came to know about the two he couldn't help but ask that. 

"Renjun, we get trained in our world to adapt to human conditions. If there's any sort of emergency we could come to earth at any time without getting ourselves exposed.

We are always up to date about the changes that take place on earth and act according to it. Do you think we'll be able to fool humans without knowing basic stuff? We survive off of you all and in order for us to trick humans we have to act like you, be a part of you." 

Haechan explained as Renjun had his mouth hanging. Needless to say, he was impressed by that reply. It's funny how he was horrified a few hours earlier after coming to know the real identity of the two. Here he was trying to know more about them.

"It's loading" Jeno exclaimed as Haechan glanced at Renjun who pursed his lips nodding slightly. The siblings decided that it would be better to not let Taeyong know about Renjun. They couldn't imagine how he would have reacted when he came to know that Jaemin knew about them.

"Hi hyung" Jeno and Haechan greeted the other with a small smile as Renjun could see the light emitting from the screen. Nibbling on his lips he waited for the other to talk.

"I didn't know I would be finally able to see you both" Taeyong spoke out folding his hands as Jeno looked at his brother with a tight smile. He looked back at the screen and had his brows furrowed at the sight of a pink-haired male.

"Don't worry. We warned him beforehand about the things we're going to discuss" Seeing Jeno's expression Sungchan explained as he hummed. Haechan rubbed his brother's hand to calm him down.

"So," Taeyong started his eyes cold and his face pale," It's not the four of us. We have to find who's causing this. Do you have anyone who might be behind this? Did you mention about coming to earth to anyone?" 

Haechan and Jeno shook their heads as a no, their eyes landing on Sungchan who had his head lowered a bit. The younger boy was shaking a bit and it was evident that he was hiding something.

"Sungchan..." Taeyong started turning towards his lover's brother as the younger male bit his nervously, gulping. The stern gaze of Taeyong wasn't helping him any bit.

"It seems like you might know who that is...did you tell anyone about this?" 

Sungchan kept avoiding his gaze as Haechan rolled his eyes before turning to Jeno.

"See I told you to not trust him. Look what he has done"

"Let that boy speak" 

Haechan was taken aback by his brother's reply but nevertheless resorted to keeping his mouth shut.

"I don't know if it's him...I didn't mean to tell him either but I bumped into him on my way here...when he enquired about where I was going...I had to tell"

"Anything else?"

"No... it didn't seem like he was coming here. He asked me whether I had the permission of the king and I said yes."

"Who is it?"

"Jeongwoo"

"Him?" Jeno couldn't believe that. He didn't look like the type to escape the underworld just to go around and do a massive killing. It goes against their rules and in no way would someone like him dare to do that. Plus he was an ace in everything he does. He never found ways to disappoint the king.

If they are to kill humans they would always go in groups to do so. That was a rule set by their clan and to this day all of them have obeyed that. And as far as Jeno remembered, Jeongwoo was one of the favorite followers of his father.

"Are you sure it's him?" Taeyong asked not quite believing it himself.

"He's the one who I revealed this to...but I don't think it's him. It could be someone else."

Taeyong hummed. He turned towards the siblings who seemed to be quiet.

"What do you think?" he asked as Jeno shrugged.

"I don't really think it's him. I've seen that kid around a few times and he didn't seem like the type to break rules. Father always talks about how obedient and loyal he is to our clan so I doubt it's him. What about you Hyuck?" He turned to Haechan who seemed to be having the same opinion.

"I agree with Jeno. I don't think it's him. Besides, have you ever told anyone about your departure hyung?" 

"No, I haven't. King sent me here without announcing it to others to avoid you both from escaping. He suspected that there are spies who were helping you both"

They hummed.

"What are the odds of the person behind this being just one? It could be several of them?" Jaemin decided to butt in earning a glare from Taeyong. The monster beside him panicked a bit before shushing the older male.

"My theory is that this is the doing of one person. After doing some research I was able to know that the bodies were lying not even 10 meters apart which means that he found it easy to capture his prey one by one. If this was the doing of a group possibly enough they would split into groups like how we usually do and take turns. But instead of doing it in a rush, they would take their time.

In this case, twenty people over a short span is not a small thing. It's even crazier for us, who use our fangs to suck the blood out of people. Only someone who's really skilled gets to do it. A normal monster wouldn't be capable of doing it."

Jaemin felt chills running down his spine. He regretted his decision of begging them to let him join them. All he wanted was to know how monsters worked but he doesn't think he'll be able to face the siblings normally after hearing all these.

"He or she is strong for sure. What we have to do is to come up with a plan. A plan that would possibly help us outwit him or her. Are you okay with that boys?" Taeyong asked as they hummed nodding their heads.

"Very well" he smiled a bit before turning to Jaemin, "You live here alone right?"

The pink-haired male nodded slowly.

"Will you be able to accommodate one more person?"

Jaemin blinked his eyes before nodding. 

"Thank you for your kindness jaemin. I owe you one"

"Let's wrap it up for tonight. I'll be going out in a bit to do some research on my own. See you tomorrow boys" Taeyong waved as they bowed before waving back. The screen went blank and the two sighed before looking at Renjun who seemed to be frozen a bit after hearing everything.

"You'll be able to find who it is...won't you?" he asked hopefully as they nodded passing a small smile.

"Hopefully. We'll put an end to this as soon as possible. That's our promise"

"But pro-"

"And no! We wouldn't break this promise. You have our word"
