I ran down the crowded outside corridor to catch up with my best friend Tom.
"Tom!" I yelled. He turned around and right as he saw me he smiled and opened his arms. I know I see him everyday, but he's my bestfriend and I've known him since we were eight years old, and now we're both 17 and in a year we're both going to be graduating from Poway High School and getting out of here.
I ran into his arms and he picked me up and spun me around. Once he put me back down he looked at me and said, "hey Cass." He put his arm around my shoulder and we started walking into the crowded hallways of Poway High School.
"So it's Friday night, are we doing anything tonight?" I asked him
"Yeah I was thinking maybe we could go to the city and get some dinner and then... I got us two tickets to see Pennywise!" He said with a huge smile on his face.
I was so happy, "Tom! Oh my god! Thank you so much!" I said as I hugged him again.
As Tom and I got older my feelings for him progressed. Yeah I know cliche right? But obviously I couldn't tell him because I couldn't jeopardize our friendship.
"When I get home I'll tell my mom, she's going to say yes, I know she will because she'll do anything to make sure I don't hear the fighting between her and my dad. Trust me this is a holiday for me." I told Tom
"A holiday huh?"
"Yeah why do you ask?"
"No reason, just a good metaphor that's all." Tom said with a smile, "hey I have to get to class," he said as the bell rang, "I'll pick you up at '5'
"Sounds good." I told him as we walked our separate ways
