"Mom, Tom is here. I'm leaving!"
"Okay hunny, have fun. Be home by curfew."
"Kay." I yelled as I was walking out the door. Tom was sitting in his car, he leaned over and opened the passenger door for me.
        "Hey beautiful, ready to go?"
"Totally!" I said with a huge smile.
While we were in the car we were listening to Bad Religion when Tom turned the music down and said, "hey Cass, I'm thinking of starting a band. I mean I play guitar I just need a drummer and bass player. I have a drummer in mind, Scott. Scott Raynor."
"Oh yeah I know Scott, he's really good." I said
"I know, but I also don't want a huge band, maybe three guys so we have all the essentials of a band; a guitarist, a bassist, and a drummer. The only problem is I need a bassist."
"Well I have a friend who lives in Ridgecrest. Her name is Anne, Anne Hoppus and she has a brother who plays bass. His name is umm Mark. I'll talk to him for you if you want me too."
"Yeah that would be great! Thanks Cass."
"No problem, but what's the name of the band going to be." I blinked multiple times when I asked him this Tom looked at me when I did and after a couple of seconds of thinking he said, "blink."
        "Blink?" I asked
"Yeah Blink."
"Where did you come up with that?" I already knew the answer but I just wanted to hear what he would say.
"Just came to me." He said as he looked at me and smiled as we pulled up into the small local burger joint to eat.

The night was absolutely perfect! I loved that I got to see my favorite band with my best friend who I wanted more than anything to become more than friends with. The way he would look at me and how we would laugh together about anything.
When I got home the light in the kitchen was on, I went to the fridge and pulled out a Dr. Pepper, it was mine and Tom's favorite drink. I  trudged up the stairs and went to my room and threw myself onto my bed. In my portable CD player "Somewhere Between Heaven and Hell" by Social Distortion was spinning in circles. I rolled over on my side, my whole outfit, even my converse were still on. I couldn't stop thinking of this night and how I no longer liked Tom DeLonge, I loved him, and I had to tell him.
