Our next Christmas Tale begins in The Royal Chae family's palace for the annual Christmas Ball. Every year, your family was invited. Everyone dressed in their best dresses, suits, and jewelry. Your mother had ordered a tailor to make you a new dress for this year, a stunning white off the shoulders layered dress with a red and gold flower trim with a train that seemed to go on for miles, and keep you warm, your mother had imported an expensive white fur shawl. Your mother had the whole family dressed up. But why was this year so special compared to the others? Because you were old enough to marry, and your mother wanted a spot in the Chae Family Tree.
As soon as you and your family, Your Father, the Duke, along with your mother, older brother Jooheon, and sisters, arrived in the candlelit ballroom decorated in all sorts of reds, greens, and golds, you went straight to your friends who you spotted instantly. "{Y/N} you look so beautiful!" Your friends showered you with compliments. "No stop you guys are beautiful!" You countered because your friends were all levels of gorgeous and you loved to hype your friends up. As the night went on, you drank, ate, talked, and even made some new friends. "{Y/N}!" You friend, Lisa, giggled, bringing you in closer. "We've noticed Prince Hyungwon staring at you all night!" She said. You turned to see The Prince staring daggers into your soul, along with your brother and his friends talking to him about whatever young prince's of the land talked about these days. When Prince Hyungwon noticed you saw him, he quickly looked away. "I don't know about you... but I think he's head over heels-" Your other friend, Rosé, said. "We'll just have to see during the Prince's Waltz..." You sighed. Prince Hyungwon wasn't ugly, in fact, you thought he was beautiful, but your main concern was if you were enough for him. "I hope your brother chooses me." Dahyun said to you and you gave her a face of disgust. "Jooheon?! Ew! He's so gross!" You said but she rolled her eyes at you in return. The Prince's waltz was held every year where Princes would choose a girl to dance with at the Christmas Ball. You had never been chosen, but this year you had a little hope, and you didn't want to disappoint your mother.
After a couple minutes of gossiping about who was going to get picked, the candles began to dim and that all too familiar tune began to play: The Prince's Waltz. You and your friends waited patiently as the young princes, dukes, and other boys from powerful families made their way around the ballroom. Sure enough, your Jooheon did choose Dahyun, which surprised you so much that you began to laugh at him, until he told you to shut up. You turned to Rosé to make a funny remark about your brother's choice but stopped when you heard everyone around you gasp. You turned to see Prince Hyungwon approaching you and your friends, but his hand was extended towards you. You hesitated, looking towards your friends who were pushing you towards him. "Go on!" Rosé whispered to you with a reassuring smile. You slowly took the Prince's warm hand and together you made your way to the center of the dance floor. You knew this waltz well, and it wasn't a challenge as you and the Prince seemed to glide around the golden tiled floors. Prince Hyungwon avoided eye contact, but his grip was tight. He seemed very serious about this dance, it wasn't as fun as you thought it would. But when he finally looked down at you, and gave you the biggest grin, you couldn't help but smile back. And to be honest, this was probably the first time you had seen the Prince smile. "They're all watching us..." Hyungwon whispered in your ear, sending shivers down your spine and you felt your cheeks flush. You looked around and laughed nervously. He was right, everyone's attention was on you both. "Let's give them the show they're waiting for." He grinned and you nodded in response, unable to wipe the smile off your face as he twirled you around. The gold specks on your dress glimmered in the candle light as your dress twirled like something out of a fairytale. You both definitely had everyone's attention now as he lifted you up, you laughed as you both spun around and he gently placed you down and you both continued to dance. As the music came to an end, he twirled you one last time. You didn't want it to end, and judging by his reaction to the music coming to a stop, he didn't want it to end either, or that's what you hoped. People began to clap and you curtsied to Hyungwon and he bowed back respectfully. "Thank you for choosing me, your majesty, I had so much fun." You said. "I kind of don't want it to end-" "Meet me back here in five?" he asked. Your face lit up with excitement when you heard his words and you nodded your head vigorously. "Yes! Of course!" You said, rushing over to meet your friends and get a quick sip of water.
