Scouting The Forest

Anakin and his team sit on the bullhead with their weapons ready. As the Bullhead approaches The Deeper Section of The Emerald Forest the Team stands and begins holding onto the handle bars.

"Alright Students!" Professor Port starts. "There have been strange readings in this area of the forest. Today we will be following those readings, and besting any Grimm in our path. Why this reminds me of a time when I was younger...."

"Sir with all due respect." Rex interrupts. "As much as I love a good story, we're almost to the drop."

"Oh, uh, right. Sorry." Port apologies.

"Sir." Crimson starts gaining the Professor's attention. "Are there any clues on what the source of the readings is?"

"The only thing that is certain is that it is moving. Meaning..." The Professor begins.

"Meaning it's likely something alive." Lilly interrupts. "Possibly even a person."

"Uh, correct. Nice work Miss Volantine." Port complements.

"We're here." The pilot announces.

The doors slide open and the five jump out. Upon landing the team takes a quick look around only to find nothing. "Alright." Anakin shrugs. "Rex? You got the tracker?"

Rex holds up his scroll. "All set. From what I can see it appears to be..." He looks at his scroll while walking in different directions for a moment. "This way."

"Of course it is." Lilly says fearfully. The direction pointed to a denser part of the forest.

"Well, let us begin this wonderful hunt!" Port laughs as he makes his way onward to the thicket.

Anakin scowled at the man and his loudness in what was essentially a war zone for Grimm. "Let's go."

"Can't we go around?" Lilly asks.

Rex raises a brow. "Are you afraid of going in there."

"Obviously!" She whisper shouts glaring at her boyfriend.

Anakin snorts. "Alright then you can stay here. We be back in a week or two. Anakin says leading a smirking Crimson, and a chuckling Rex into the Thicket.

"That's so unfair. I couldn't even fix my hair before this." Lilly grumbled. She then heard a twig snap an jumped at the noise. "Wait for me." She then runs to catch up.

Back at Beacon Yang was helping Ahsoka with her brand new hair. "Is this what having hair is like all the time?" Ahsoka asks.

"Pretty much." Yang states. Yang was brushing it as gently as she could.

"This is a nightmare." Ahsoka grumbles causing Yang to laugh.

Back in the woods the group stops at the entrance to a cave. A slight smell of vinegar lingered from within. "This is it." Rex states. "The readings are coming from within this cave."

"What's with the smell of vinegar." Crimson says scrunching up his nose in displeasure. Anakin shrugs.

"Vary well." The Professor nods. He then ready's his weapon. A blunderbuss with a war axe stock. "Onward into the abyss!" He then begins marching right in.

Crimson sighs. "He has such a way with words, that immediately makes me want to shoot myself."

Lilly lightly shoves his shoulder. "Be nice. He's a Professor for a reason... even if he make me question how." She says as Rex laughs at the statement.

Anakin rolls his eyes with a smirk towards his teammates. "Well let's go and make sure he doesn't get himself killed."

"How could he?" Rex asks jokingly. "I mean after all he DID bring a dead Deathstalker back to his village to be 'celebrated as a HERO'" Rex quotes causing the group to laugh. The group then enters the cave oblivious to the eight burning red eyes of a creature watching them.

Up in front Anakin has his blue lightsaber activated as a light source. Next to him Rex guides them. They soon catch up with Port who decided to wait for them, and they continue.

"I don't like this." Lilly whimpers slightly.

"Scared of the dark?" Crimson says giving a toothy smirk.

"Stop." Rex says glaring Crimson. Rex then pulls Lilly into a protective side hug. Hoping to calm her nerves. "I don't like it either."

The further they went the stronger the smell of Vinegar was. All of a sudden Anakin stops holding a fist up causing the group to stop. He kneels down shining his saber towards the ground. What he sees are webs covered in black ooze.

His eyes widened in recognition. "We have to get out of here." He says shakily. Rex knew that tone of voice. He had heard it only a few times. It was the tone saying "We screwed up. If we don't move now we're gonna die"

"Go, now." Anakin says. He was obviously trying to keep a lowered voice to keep from attracting attention. Rex nods and slowly turns only to be met with eight large burning red eyes. Rex pushes Lilly behind him slowly as he backs up.

"Anakin, we might have a problem with that." Rex says.

"Run!" Crimson shouts firing off a shotgun Round from his weapon Limbo. The team and Professor do as he said running deeper in as the Grimm screeched in pain. Rex splits off a Clone to cover them, firing off blaster rounds. Eventually they come across a large opening lit up by the sky as sunlight floods in showing the large room covers in webs and 7 foot Spider like Grimm known as Widower's. From what Anakin could tell. The hive mother, The Arachne wasn't there. Anakin was thankful for that.

"Looks like we're gonna have to fight our way out." Anakin says.

"An accurate assessment, yes." Port agrees.

"Spiders, it had to be spiders." Lilly complained. "Why couldn't they be Beowolves or Creeps?!"

Crimson shuttered. "I'd rather deal with just about anything other than these."

"Remember students," Port says. "The Widowers webs are highly toxic. Do NOT let them touch your skin." The team nods.

Rex splits off his clones who open fire on the Widowers. Port laughs as he charges in fireing off blast from his weapon. Anakin rushes a nearby Widower and slices it in half. Crimson uses his semblance on a few dead Widowers and has them fight back as he fires shotgun blasts. Lilly keeps her weapons in pistol mode firing off rounds.

A Widower falls down right behind Rex and starts to attack. Lilly opens her water pouch and freezes it before slicing it into pieces. She then smirks at Rex who aims his blasters at her. Her eyes widened and she ducks while Rex blasts a Widower that had been behind her.

Anakin swiftly slices his way through several Widowers before using the force to jump high into the air. He then lands with a Force Repulse disintegrating several more Widowers and killing a few more.

"This isn't working!" Rex shouts.

Anakin slices another Widower. "Got any Ideas?!" He shouts back.

"I think so, but it could be..." Rex is interrupted by the ground shaking. The team stops what their doing as the Widowers back up halting their attack. "What are they doing?"

"Professor? Any ideas?" Crimson asks looking over to said man. The Professor however was not looking at the Widowers at the moment. He was looking up to hole at the top of the cave.

"The Mother's returned to the nest." Port says shakily.
