Season One, Episode Seventeen: Turn, Turn, Turn

After the talk between Coulson, Skye, and I in the office, things had taken a turn for the worst. My gaze never wavered as I held my gun, pointing it directly at May. Part of me wanted to lower my weapon, wanting to believe that she wasn't a mole in the team, but there was an encrypted hardline leading all the way up to the cockpit of the plane, an area that only May was regularly in. It was hard to believe in her innocence with evidence like that.

"Drop your damn weapon, May, and kick it over to the stairs. Now!" Coulson shouted at her, causing her to reluctantly follow his orders. "Now back the hell up. Over there." He pointed over to the side, all of us watching as she complied with his orders. I stood off to the right of Skye, my entire body tense as Coulson picked up May's weapon. "Talk, tell us where you rerouted the plane."

"I didn't set this new course. I swear!" Her voice was panicked as she spoke.

"Don't lie to me!" I had never seen Coulson this angry before. When we were dealing with Nash, he seemed pissed, but he was close with Melinda, so this hit harder to home than the empty threats of the Clairvoyant.

"Yeah, well, the plane just turned around, for god's sake!" Fitz yelled from behind the doors to the lab.

"How is this happening, then?" Skye questioned.

"H.Q. can override automated control of the avionics, take us anywhere they want," May explained before turning her full attention to Coulson. "Let me check the instrument panel, and I'll be able to-"

"No way!" Fitz interrupted.

"You're not going anywhere until you explain what-" Coulson began.

"It's not me!" May yelled there was a hint of desperation for us to believe her lacing her words.

"Why did you have an encrypted hard line?"

"And try to shoot me when we found it?" Fitz added on.

"Let's take a breath, huh?" May suggested.

"Let's not." Coulson took a step toward her.

"It was a dedicated channel to Director Fury." Her hands moved animatedly as she spoke. "That's the truth."

"Director Fury? I haven't been able to get him on the line for weeks."

"You were reporting to him?" Skye questioned.

"What were you telling him? What information was so important that you needed a line like that?" I spoke up for the first time, confusion, and anger in my voice.

"I can't tell you," May spoke, shaking her head slightly at my questions.

"Oh! Just come out with it!" Fitz yelled once again.

"That's all you can tell us?" Coulson's tone sounded incredulous as he spoke.

"I'm under orders!" May justified her actions, using her orders as an excuse. "Fury will tell you."

"Was this an order?" Fitz pointed to the glass of the door in front of him where we could see where May had tried to shoot him. "To shoot me in the bloody head?"

"Hold on," Coulson spoke. "We're not headed to Fury anymore."

"I don't know where we're headed." May paused. "And I can't get Fury on the line because Fitz cut the line!" Her voice raised slightly as she looked toward the scientist.

"Skye told me to!" Fitz defended himself.

"Someone was talking to the Clairvoyant, the real Clairvoyant." Skye's words were rushed as she spoke.
