I started calling Jack Flauren in 6th grade... Or was it 7th? I was telling her a stupid story about a time I couldn't say the word fire. Everyone else was like, mouth is flapping, no words are coming out... But not Jack. She was all tuned in and laughing and gasping and all in all being a perfect audience of one. When I got to the part about how instead of saying fire I said Fl... Flll... Flluflullll! She told me I was trying to say her name. But that is not all Flauren means to me. Here, let me spell it out.
F... Friend, fabulous, fine, free spirited
L... Lively, like able, loyal, lucky
A... Amazing, Adorable, admirable, awesome
U... Ultimate(ly amazing), unbreakable, unbelievable, unshakable, unique
R... Responsible, radiant, remarkable, reliable
E... Extraordinary, enchanting, energetic, eccentric, elegant, exceptional
N...nice, noticeable, neat, noble, nifty, nimble, nostalgic, nymphlike (nymphadora tonks)
And if there was a B.... BAE!
Flatten is all of those things and MANY more. She is like, the perfect person. I know people that have it good and are like, "oh, pity me! My life sucks and pity me! I need pity! Through me a surprise pity party, so I can have pity!"
And then there is Jack. Her life has it's jack-ups, and more than most peoples. But she works through it, and life goes on. She endures, suffers through the downs and rejoices with the ups. She bears on, tolerates all of everyone else's crap, she outlasts us all, for she understands what it is to truly suffer, and while many know what that is, she has a huge knowledge of it. For these reasons and many more, if I had to pick a role middle, from my entire school, she would be my #1 choice.
And my Flauren, may I one day be as kind, wise, and charitable as you already are.
