Friends to Family

Chapter 1

This is a spur of the moment MerAdd fic that came to my head. There are a few things you should know before reading. In this story

1. Meredith is starting Seattle Grace as a General surgeon, not an Intern.

2. Meredith is a widow. Derek died in a semi accident before moving to Seattle, previously living in Boston.

3. Thatcher and Susan friendly

CHAPTER 1

She held her breath, green eyes staring anxiously and excited at the neon blue flashing alarm clock, willing the time to go faster. It was 6:35 in the morning but her momma made her promise to not wake her up before seven. Oaklyn Mae Forbes Montgomery was always a good girl and was obedient. So, when she woke up excited and eager for her first day of "big girl" school and saw she was up too early to wake up her momma, she decided to read one of the books her Aunt Naomi gave her for a little while. After 25 minutes, she grew bored and decided to sit and look at the time. After an eternity, which was only about 5 minutes, she decided that she would start getting ready for school.

Oaklyn's face split into a wide grin when she saw her mom's smiling face peek around her door. "Good morning, Oakly" Addison greeted her 6-year-old with a bright smile. "Mommy!" Oaklyn loudly exclaimed, running into her momma's open arms. "Look, I got myself ready for school." She said gesturing to her new uniform.

"You look so pretty, are you ready for breakfast?" Addison asked.

Kristin woke up at 7:15 to her mom throwing a pillow at her face. "You were supposed to be up and ready 20 minutes ago," Meredith says to her daughter. "I'm not having you late on your first day. Get dressed and I'll have your breakfast ready." Meredith said before leaving.

Kristen put on her uniform and grabbed her Wonder Woman jacket on her way down the stairs.

"I made you cereal, hurry up we're gonna be late Kris," Meredith said when she noticed Kristen coming down the steps.

"Coming mum." She said rushing.

Today was Kristen's first day at 'St. Matthews' Elementary prep school and she was nervous. She didn't know anyone and wanted to make new friends. She wasn't a girly girl like all the other girls in her class. She loved superheroes, like Wonder woman, Batman, and Black Widow. They were her favourites.

They walked up to the class together. "Are you ready?" Meredith asked before entering the classroom.

Nervous Kristin replied, "I'll be okay mum." Kissing her on the forehead, mother and daughter walked into the room.

"Hello, my name is Mrs. Turner, I am your first-grade teacher." A woman in her late 20's said to Kristin. "Go put your stuff in your cubby and then you can pick a seat anywhere." The teacher said.

Going over to her cubby Kristin ran into a girl with strawberry blonde hair and blue eyes. "I'm so sorry, " Kristen apologized. "What's your name?" she asked.

"Oaklyn Mae Forbes, but you can call me Oaklyn." The girl said kindly.

"My name is Kristin, but you can call me Kris. Wanna sit together?" Kristin asked the redhead.

"Sure." She grabbed her hand and took her to an open table. "Mommy" Oaklyn called.

"This is Kristin, Kristin, this is my Mom. She's a doctor." Oakly said introducing her mom.
