"What the..." Mike starts to say, but then is cut off by another louder boom.
It was almost as if someone was banging on a huge pair of drums and gongs at the same time.
"Guys... ya think we should kina...take cover!" Jamie says, her voice shaky.
While Jamie and Ally have already taken off towards the school building, all I am doing is standing motionless, gazing up at the sky. Eventually Mike comes over and pulls me away from my spot and takes my hand to guide me towards the school. Louie just silently trails us.
Then I feel it, a huge drop of I don't know what, appears on my arm and I start to panic.
"Mike, guys!" I shout nervously.
"What Amber? What's the madder?" He says with anxious look on his face.
"I... I think my arm is bleeding, can you take a look?" The weird thing is, it doesn't even hurt, nor do I know how I could have gotten a cut.
"Ummmm... no blood on your arm, it just looks like water, Amber, you are probably sweating," Mike says with a half smile. How embarrassing. I wipe it off and act like nothing happend, for right now I feel really stupid.
After a few seconds, Louie complains of a weird feeling on his neck.
"Guys... I don't think what Amber just felt was sweat, more like water."
We just reached the school building in time, and are now under a small sun awning near the front door.
"Sweat is water you doofis," Ally says in an half annoyed half scared tone.
Louie is just about to reply when we then hear yet another loud explosion in the sky. This time though, right after the boom, there's a huge flash of light that dances across the sky. This only lasts for a second, but it stuns us. A few seconds later, many tiny drops of water start falling out of the sky, and everyone loses it.
"What the heck is this? Is the world coming to an end?" I say very shaken.
"Hopefully not," Jamie responds.
Without thinking, I step to the edge of the covered part of cement and stick my hand out to feel the tiny drops of what I think are water. It doesn't really sting, but the cool droops of substance send a shiver throughout my body.
Ally was just about to give me a warning to stop when I take off running out into the field. Huge drops of what I now know are water soak my clothes. After a few seconds of running, I slip and fall into a big pile of wet dirt putting a big stain on my shirt. Even though my clothes are now ruined, I love the feeling that I was the one to run out first.
"Eww, that's repulsive Amber, look at your shirt!" Ally says, taking a single glance at my now brown, tarnished shirt.
"I want some of this!" Louis shouts and then runs into the now wet field; which leads to him to sliding on wet dirt and landing fallen right next to me.
Shortly after, Mike and Jamie join in, a little more cautious than Louis and I were, but eventually they do the same as us. That is when what we now will call "Dirwet" begins to be thrown around at each other. Mike, surprisingly, is the first on to throw.
After a few minutes of chucking dirwet at each other, I realize that Ally is still under the awning, with a disgusted look on her face. We must really be acting like babies, I begin to think... but hey, it's the most fun we have ever had.
"I can't believe you guys are doing that!" Ally shouts, her voice cutting through the crash noises.
Just then Louis goes onto the cement with the awning above it and grabs her hand, and half yanks her onto the field.
