My eyes widened in fright- tail swishing nervously behind me. I frantically backed up from Shinso and pulled my hair with my hands. With a strangled voice, I whisper-yelled, "You didn't tell me one of your dads was Present Mic!"
"I didn't think it was important!" he shot back- voice raised a few octaves.
"Of course it's important- I'm a vigilante for cryin' out loud!" I cried.
Shinso looked me dead in the eyes, "You're the Black Rabbit??"
"What did you think I was? A green-haired shortie in a demon costume??"
There was a moment of silence. "Well- maybe..." Shinso replied earnestly.
I stared at him.
He stared back.
"Is now a good time to mention that my other dad is Eraserhead?" he murmured.
"WHAT?!" I practically yelled in horror.
Shinso scrunched his face up and looked away from me like he was ashamed and scared at the same time. There was a slight shake in his hand, and it took a moment to realize what was happening. It pained me to see him like this, so I immediately calmed down and strode over to him, grabbing his chin and gently turning his head toward me.
"Hey, I'm sorry for yelling- I really am," I apologized with a soft voice, "But I need to get out of here now."
He looked into my eyes and sighed, his voice cracking a little and his eyes watering at his next words, "I- I'm sorry."
My muscles relaxed as I wrapped my arms around my- my boyfriend..."Hey, you have nothing to apologize for. I shouldn't have raised my voice, and I won't make an excuse for why as it was completely uncalled for. I love you so much- so very much, and I would never hurt you, I promise."
Tears started to fall from Shinso's pastel eyes, and he buried his head in my shoulder and hugged me tightly. We cherished the moment while it lasted.
"SHINSO? SHINSO WHY ARE THERE SO MANY CATS? SHINSO WHERE ARE YOU?" the muffled voice of Present Mic's shouted from inside.
We both giggled at Mic's mention of the cats as I pulled away from my love. "Well, I need to go back to my house before the heroes come up here- oh, and have a fun time with the cats. Can I stop by tomorrow to pick them up?"
Shinso wiped his face and giggled, "Yeah, of course. You should come to visit tomorrow! It isssss Saturday."
The corners of my mouth tugged upward into a smile, "Sounds like a plan."
I stared lovingly into Shinso's eyes for a moment as the wind tussled his fluffy hair. I really wish this night could have lasted forever...without interruption. My smile widened as I locked eyes with Shinso and backed up until I was at the edge of the roof. I gave a sort of army wave and fell backward, catching the exact moment where Shinso's eyes turned big out of shock.
I laughed to myself and soared into the air past Shinso's roof just as the door to said roof burst open. The moonlight shone against my wings and highlighted the bright streaks as I hovered there for a moment. It was too dark for anyone to make out my face, so I watched as Present Mic entered the rooftop and glanced up at me before walking over to Shinso. I smirked and did a flip in the air before laughing and turning around to fly home, the moonlight shining against the metallic purple in my wings and highlighting the cracked streaks as I did so.
~~~ Later That Night At Approximately 3:00 am ~~~
I opened my eyes to complete darkness.
'Someone help meeeee!' a young girl's voice screamed.
