I wasn't sure how long it had been since I had started messing with the newest of Karasuno. Weeks, maybe months. New faces lay amongst their ranks- and even some old. Noya the libero and Asahi the ace had returned. A couple new first years also joined- Tsukushima and Yamaguchi, from what I had learned. There was also the coach- Ukai- but he was of less importance to me.
The boys all filed out, chatting idly amongst themselves. Weeks. I have been messing with them for weeks. Moving balls, throwing them. Manipulating the net- everything. All in order to get noticed. Yet; still, they seemed to be entirely unaware. It was dejecting to say the least.
I drifted towards the door. Slowly, I allowed my hand to drift out. A light blue reflective border formed. The foggy wall wreathed and danced, reflecting the light of the night's beaming stars. A frown lit my lips as I recoiled. Doors, walls, and even windows were no problem for me. But borders? I was thoroughly trapped.
My eyes trailed after the players as they left. Their orange jerseys dipped out of view, filling my chest with dread. A sigh left my lips. I drifted towards the back corner of the gym, resting in the darkened corner. My head leaned against the stone. It provided no support. Slowly, my eyes fluttered to a close.
Voices caught my attention. I drifted upwards, floating towards the doors. Rustling joined in. A harsh weight collided with the door.
"Shhh!" Someone hissed. Multiple argumentative statements followed the order.
Keys entered the lock. I watched in intrigue as the doors slowly opened, revealing the Karasuno boys. Oh? I curiously tilted my head. Sneaking out for practice?
The team all entered, voices filling the once silent space. I couldn't stifle the grin that lit my face.
"Remind me why we're here anyways?" Tsukki finally asked, grumbling.
"Because it's a tradition!" Suga defended, clapping him on the back. "Now that the team's all together, we have to."
The boys all bore sleeping bags. They laid them on the floor, flashlights in hand. I watched in intrigue as they all crowded around in a circle. A sleepover? Hesitantly, I dropped down between Hinata and Noya. My legs crossed. It felt... normal. Almost like I was included.
Daichi opened a backpack, revealing a wide variety of snacks. He began to pass them around the circle. Hinata hesitated once it got to him, arm outstretched. I reached for it without thinking. Oh, I recalled as the bar passed through my hand. Right. My arm recoiled.
My nose wrinkled as smacking assaulted my ears. Crumbs splayed across the floor. Boys, I thought as my tongue left my mouth. Jokes filled the air. Some funny, some terrible. Tsukki never chimed in- of course- but nonetheless, I could tell everyone was enjoying themself. I found myself eliciting a small chuckle at one Yamaguchi had said.
"We should tell scary stories!" Noya shouted, fists pumping.
"I don't think-" Asahi mumbled, only to be overshadowed by Tanaka.
"I love scary stories!" He exclaimed, joining in with the other's fist pumping.
"Tsukki should go first," Yamaguchi decided, pitching a thumb at him.
The blond rolled his eyes. "Pass," he stated. "Give it to the King of Court, his passes are the scariest things here."
"You-!"
"Hey, no fighting," Daichi ordered, cutting off Kageyama's retort. "Noya should go first, since he started this."
"Heck yea!" Noya agreed. "So once upon time-"
