Almost 3 days had passed while Osamu averts from the very obvious question that Atsumu had being shoving on him from the moment he woke up, and Atsumu had been even more persistance now that he's beginning to regain some strength.
Atsumu had tried to get more words out of Suna so he doesn't have to confront his stubborn twin brother for it but Suna keeps his lips seal, saying 'I said what I have to say, you'll have to get Osamu to tell you the rest.'
Persistance bastards, emphasis on the S, Suna and his brother.
So he tried Kita, who was actually the second person to visit Atsumu after he had woke. Kita noded his head when Atsumu questioned him, saying he knew, but not enough, because no one told Kita. With some investigating, Kita figured out about it himself.
"Ya....figured it out? How?" Atsumu asks Kita one day when Osamu is out of the ward with Suna, doing some 'rehabilitation' or whatever.
"Haven't you noticed he's been falling behind?" Kita voices out in the room with just him and Atsumu.
Atsumu almost shakes his head, he hesitates, he recalls if there was every a time Osamu's physical performance had ever been off. 'No.' He thought. Osamu has always been in top shape, been pretty strong, been rivalling with Atsumu in every race and run, even if it's not a competition, they would make it one.
Except.
Except there were times when Kita would ask Osamu to bench during practice, saying he needs a break. Times when Suna extra care of Osamu when he's huffing and puffing on the court, making he doesn't over do it.
Atsumu pulls out from his train of thought, "But.....but he's been a better runner than me. He always finishes his laps first."
"Coach gave him lesser laps."
'Coach?'
"Coach knew?" Atsumu frowns.
Kita nods, "He doesn't push Osamu into intense training, and Osamu should notify him immediately if he felt uncomfortable in anyway. He told me to give Osamu lesser laps and training as well, which left me curious since he didn't actually told me why."
Kita slumps back into the chair before continuing,"So I observed myself, it was hard to notice anything off honestly, he was still playing in top shape. Until......" Kita taps a finger on the bedside table, "Until the youth training camp? Both of you.....were actually nominated to join the camp."
Atsumu eyes widen in shock, he's been receiving a lot of shocking news already since he woke up so he thought he would be numbed by the continous shock factor now, but this one came in as surprising as all the others.
"Listen," Kita holds a hand up, "No one else knows about this and both of you were nominated, not invited, that means the list was still in process of elimination and addition, as I heard from coach. So when coach announced to the team that only you were going to the camp, I asked coach why they eliminated Osamu from the list, since you know, his skills are almost on par with you."
Atsumu listens tentatively and nods his head.
"And what coach said was......unbelievable."
"Unbelievable how?"
"Osamu caught wind of him being nominated from the coach in the teachers staff room, he personally requested to be removed from the list."
'He......'
"That--"
'Personally requested......'
"That fucking idiot." Atsumu cusses.
