Robyn sat in the hallway for a second, rubbing her forehead. She knew which class was Rachel's homeroom - she'd mentioned that it was the same class they had art in. So, Robyn planned on heading in that direction.
However, her head hurt too much (still) so, even when she started walking, Rachel had already found her.
"Hello, Robyn."
The two had spoken a few times - sat together in art. Robyn wasn't a loner...but she wasn't popular, and Rachel was quiet when she wasn't with that one friend Robyn saw her with. The two made quiet acquaintances in the back seats of an art class, inaudibly sharing paints and comfortable banter.
Robyn smiled awkwardly, the Chosen One's Gift burning her thigh from in her pocket. "Uh, hi... Rachel."
Rachel didn't seem phased from the brain-screaming. There was no glazed-over look in her eyes, nor a hand resting against the ginger curls on her forehead. This was odd to Robyn.
"This is new." Rachel chuckled quietly.
Robyn tried to muster a giggle but the throbbing was still there. It was probably her own weakness, as she felt suitable to call it. She got headaches easily, anyway.
"Oh," Rachel mumbled, suddenly quieter. "I forgot about your headaches...uhm, hey, come on. Sit down...you don't mind the floor, right?"
"No...I-I don't mind."
Robyn placed her back against the cold wall and slid down slowly. Rachel watched, seemingly calm (even though she wasn't), before sitting down next to her.
"Do you have any medication on you? Y'know, like those painkillers you had to take once in art?"
Robyn lifted her head from her lap groggily before groaning. "Ugh...Yeah, in my...in my purse, uhm...in the bag." She began to pull them out before mumbling again. "Hate these things."
Robyn pulled her bottle of juice out of her bag and took a large sip. The painkiller was swallowed soon after. She made a disgusted face; she hated the flavour.
"Was the uh, choosing loud for you?" Rachel asked in an attempt to break the awkward silence the two had found themselves in.
Robyn looked up, a dazed look in her eyes before nodding slowly. "Yeah. Really loud. Like screaming."
Rachel nodded. "There was a girl in my class that passed out because hers was so loud...mine wasn't that bad."
Robyn chuckled slightly. "I can tell."
Rachel smiled. "We might want to move at some point soon. The halls will fill up with the girls going to the fair."
Robyn sighs. "Yeah...it'll be real loud...uhm, where would we go, though?"
"We could sit in the outside eating area until your better and then enjoy the fair if you feel up to it?"
Robyn smiled. "Yeah, yeah okay."
Rachel helped Robyn stand up, to which she did with a wobble. Robyn slung her bag over her shoulder and sighed tiredly.
The two walked out to the school field, the sun seeming to glint and glare at Robyn's vision. She let out a breathy sigh as the two continued up the field. They sat, for a moment, in silence, among the grass and the flowers.
"Hey Rachel?"
"Hm?"
"Thanks...Thank you." Robyn chuckled. "I'm a tad bit of a liability...but thank you."
Rachel smiled sadly. "You're not a liability."
