The two remained there until the fair was in full commence, until Robyn felt better - which she now did.
Still, they remained in peaceful silence for a few, safe minutes. The summer sun felt nice and the field was empty of others.
"We should get going. Only a matter of time before someone realises we're, uh, not participating." Rachel chuckled - a genuine chuckle.
Robyn leaned back and smiled at the sky. "Yeah," The word was drawn out. "Yeah, we should."
Rachel stood abruptly, reaching out a hand for Robyn to take. Robyn wasn't comfortable with touching. In fact, a lot of the time the only time she'd willingly touch anyone was when the headaches kicked in - both things caused by her parent's nasty divorce. So, it was only natural that she gave a slight grimace, followed by an awkward smile and took Rachel's hand, leaving it as soon as possible.
Rachel didn't seem to notice - Robyn was thankful for that.
"So, is there any particular stalls you want to visit?" Rachel asked.
"Oh, uhm...Probably just the food and drink ones."
Rachel chuckles. "Really? Thought you'd want the Mythomagic stall."
Robyn, in a moment that wiped her of any masking, began to flap her hands a little, giggling quietly. Mythomagic cards was one of her hyperfixations, as someone with ADHD, since she had heard of the cards, even though she hadn't gotten any until her first Christmas in New York - three years after she found out about them.
She, also, had forgotten she'd ranted about Mythomagic to Rachel once in art class and her head pricked up as if she was a meerkat.
"There's a Mythomagic stall?"
Rachel giggled and nodded. "Yes, run by one of the girls in my homeroom."
Robyn's face broke out in an expression of pure joy, like a child about to get a present. "Are they...actually selling--?"
"Yes."
"Yesssss...Ahem, I haven't been able to get any...and, uh, I've been obsessed with Greek Mythology since I was, like, seven but there weren't any in England so...y'know I could only dream. Uh...That's sort of why, I guess, I got so excited. Sorry."
Rachel gave her a soft smile. "No, no. It's alright; it's sweet."
Robyn gave a small smile back before the two continued their trek into the school assembly room. The chairs had been stacked across the walls, a few set up outside to be sat on. The hall was filled with student-run stalls in orderly rows, much like all of the schools science fair in the Autumn.
"Which one do you want to go to?" Robyn asked after a moment of awkward silence.
Rachel smiled. "Well, the Mythomagic stall is just there, " Rachel pointed at a nearby stall, decorated in purple, "so we could go there first. And food and drink is over the other side of the hall so..."
"Start at the Mythomagics and work our way to the front?"
Rachel nodded as Robyn began to grin. The two walked over to the stall, which had virtually no one surrounding it, and began looking over the contents of the table.
The girl behind the table, a tall girl with dark hair and porcelain skin smiled at them and laid out prices. It didn't take long for Robyn to pick up some cards and pay for them, ready to make her way through the rest of the hall.
Rachel began a conversation as they looked through the isles. "So, uh, what kind of things do you like?"
"Why d'you ask?"
Rachel's cheeks went a slight tint of red. "Well, we already know we'll end up friends...and then, y'know...might as well get the small talk over."
Robyn began to blush too, before clearing her throat. "Well, you already know I'm an artist..."
"Mm."
"Uh, I like to bake, too... Oh, and I read too."
"What do you bake?"
"Anything sweet, mainly. What about you? What do you like?"
Rachel giggled as they continued.
