Chapter 5: The Disappointment

".............Okay" Disappointment fills Liam's heart after hearing Jennie's response to the guy's invitation. He wanted to put his sneaker in the guy's mouth for interrupting him bccause he should've asked that question first. That was the main purpose of being here in the first place, but seems like he failed despite winning the competition earlier.

"That's great. So see you guys later...I'll text you the location." He said excitedly before leaving them while Liam mentally rolled his eyes because of the guy's not so cute smile.

As soon as Seunghoon left, Mark starts to groan and stares at Jennie like she just grew two heads.

"Seriously...Jennie Kim? You just agreed without even asking us here? Hello? We're here too, you know?" Mark asked sarcastically because he is irritated by Jennie and he really doesn't want to hang out with Seunghoon's group. Well....bet y'all know the reason.

"Why? Are you busy this evening? As far as I remember, you don't. Well...if you don't want to go, then don't" Jennie being Jennie again....replied without any emotions as usual.

Mark is about to reply when a fake cough interrupted him. It seems to Liam that they forgot his presence here...or maybe they don't really care abouut his existence at all?

The fake cough caught their attention, and Mark's mood suddenly changed.

"Oh hey...Liam right?" Mark flirtatiously asked while moving closer to Liam. Liam just smiled shyly and nodded his head.

"I'm Mark, and I'm your fan. You're really an amazing swimmer.................and a hot one." Mark added and winked in a flirtatious way. That makes Liam feel kinda uncomfortable.

"Thank you and nice to meet you" Liam was about to offer his hand for a handshake when Mark being Markie, gave him in a hug and let his naughty hands feel Liam's back muscle while saying congratulations to Liam on winning. That shocked Liam and made him more uncomfortable, so he tried to nicely push Mark away, but seems like Markie used super glue. Thanks God...Joy kinda harshly pulled his hair that made him removed himself from Liam.

Mark glared at Joy and mouthed "bitch", Joy didn't care and just smiled back at Liam.

Joy and Sana also introduced themselves to Liam...and not far different from Mark in terms of behavior, they are also being touchy. One was rubbing Liam's bicep while another slightly touched his chest to feel his muscles. The sight irritates Jennie. Why? So she interrupted their flirting session.

"so what did you wanna say earlier?" Jennie asked coldly, but Liam is used to it, so sorry not sorry he's not scared.

" Ohhh...ummm actually I just want to thank you for watching my competition and......ummm enjoy later and don't go home too late" he smiled slightly while saying and tried his best not to sound disappointed but Jennie knows better. "And you guys too...enjoy and be safe! I gotta go back now...bye Nini bye guys" he ran back to his friends after

Liam's POV

"So?" The chicken addict asked as soon as she saw me. She was waiting for my response while raising one of her eyebrows. I guess she already knew the answer based on my facial expression.

"She already has plans." Jisoo noona didn't boher asking more about that which I'm thankful for. She just changed the topic.

"Alright...let's go then. I'm hungry alreadly." Jichu said while rubbing her tummy. And that got one person's attention, who has been silent for a while, the most. You know who.

"Thanks God....somebody listened to my prayer" Chipmunk said dramatically.

We arrived at the BBQ restaurant for my celebration. I'm sitting next to Chaeng and my two other firends on one side. Chu is sitting in front of Chipmunk, and on her right is Joohyun sitting in front of me while wendy noona is on the left.

We have been chatting happily about many topics. I can see that my friends and Jisoo's friends are getting along so well. That makes me smile. I'm glad we found new friends.

"So Liam...what's your plan after highschool?" Joohyun asked me. She's the only one who doesn't talk a lot. Most of the time, she just listens to us and smiles and sometimes laugh when we're being silly. I do admire her for being able to stand Jisoo noona and wendy noona all this time.

"I'm planning to apply for a scholarship at Seoul University, but I'm not sure if I can get it. We'll see." I replied

"Wow...you're not sure? Excuse-me? who are you kidding, monkey? You're the best in our school. Did you forget that?" Chipmunk stated acting like I just told a big lie. Damn this girl...I was just trying to be humble. "That school must be an idiot if they don't give you the scholarship you deserve." She added

"We still have one more year to go, you know? And things can change and some things can happen unexpectedly. I'm trying not to be too confident." I told them

"Wow...I didn't know that the monkey is a genius at school. It's damn right when people say don't judge a book by its cover. I thought you were silly Lol." The chicken addict teased me. I just playfully glared at her. "Irene here is also the best in our school." She added teasingly. I somehow know what's going on inside of her chicken head now.

I just smiled at Joohyun appreciating that fact.

"So what about you? I guess you'll study at Seoul Uni too, right? Unless you choose to study abroad?" I asked her

"Well...my parents want me to go abroad, but I'm not fond of living in a foreign country alone, so....Seoul university is the best choice here" she said and smiled again.

"That's great. We might see each other more often if I'm lucky enough to get a scholarship."

Giggles can be heard after what I said. I turn to look at the culprit and seems like there're more than one. Something stupid is going on inside their pretty little heads. I just ignored them.

We continue eating and talking about many things. Joohyun and I also have more conversations about this and that. I don't know why I'm getting shy when she talks to me. It feels like I'm talking to an angel. She's not only beautiful but also has a nice and lovely personality (Sth Jennie should have...tsk). Urgh....but I still want to marry Jennie. Lukas Graham said "when you love someone, you open up your heart", that means accepting all their perfections and impections.

Their little celebration came to an end, so everyone went separate ways, and Liam is ridding his precious bike back to the Kims' house, where he and his mother have been living for almost 3 years.

Just what a painful Coincidence!!!

He arrived in front of the gate at the same time as Jennie, and what made this coicidence painful is the fact that Jennie came home with that guy.

They don't notice Liam since he is on the other side of the road.

"What a gentle man!" Liam mumbled sarcastically after the two got out of the car without Seunghoon opening the damn door for Jennie.

Even from a far, he can see that Jennie enjoyed the dinner and the guy's presence based on the smile on her face. He just smiles sadly to himself because all these years they have been living together under one roof, Jennie has never talked that much with him, let alone smile at him. Maybe just maybe....to Jennie, he is nothing but the son of a maid at her house. That's why he's not worth talking to? The thought makes him chuckle bitterly to himself. He is disappointed at his fate and his pathetic heart for falling in love with the daughter of his masters. He mentally asks himself if he will ever get a chance with Jennie. Well...things can happen unexpectedly, so maybe fate can give them both a chance to be together in the future......

or maybe not !!!

Seunghoon gives Jennie a goodbye hug, which Jennie gladly accepts, before leaving. It would be a lie if Liam said the sight didn't bring the familiar pain to his chest.
