CHAPTER 00: INCEPTION

━━━━━

THE HOLOCAUST THAT had befallen on Reinsmere decreased their population into moiety. The transpiration of such destructive conflagration in the wilderness of their district wreaked havoc - wildfires, and in a blink of an eye, little to none was left.

Reinsmere's geographic features were left in somber blacks of falling ashes and grey smokes in evanescence. Evident chaos swallowed the place whole as the awful cries of the mourning people were heard - neither lost in the destroyed houses of the now subsided flames or grieving for their demised relatives.

It was the only sight to behold.

The origin of the alleged accident was still yet to be known. Indeed, such a catastrophic phenomenon was labeled an accident for the citizens of Reinsmere to remain calm amidst these unfortunate occurrences.

However, it was not.

It was never just a mere accident of candles and curtains. The leaders of the three clans knew that it was conspired by the dictations of the blue bloods. Albeit, they cannot impulsively spread such things whereas the incident never left an inkling that would pinpoint the real culprit behind the arson. They are, after all, the weakest district.

How much power do they possess to wage a war against the clans of Cardinalis?

Not enough to do so.

An uncanny silence filled the tenebrous chamber. Men of paralleled ages were seated in the long rectangular table, eerily peeking at one another, afraid of breaking the silence which was as fragile as a thin sheet of ice. Majority were clad with besmirched clothes from a bedraggling fight of fire and water - excluding the three leaders of their corresponding clans which were clothed with three-piece suits.

"We cannot do anything, can we?" spoke Lord Harold, the leader of Bandary. There goes silence once more as everyone in the room exchanged glances. Seconds passed by, the deafening silence was interrupted.

The leader of Mirado Clan stood up from his seat. "Unbelievable! This is such a big occurrence - definitely not a we-cannot-do-anything situation. The blue bloods killed half of our population! And the remaining thousands who are currently mourning for their deceased loved ones have no roofs beneath their heads!" Lord Wegiwart raised his voice, words reverberating through the four corners of the candlelit chamber. "Such cowardice is not needed no more, Lord Harold. Our district is in the verge of disappearing from the maps of Orcurias. The blue bloods will never stop unless we do something-" Lord Wegiwart's thunderous voice was suddenly cut off.

"Why . . ." Lord Vigordi of Avauria Clan trailed, silencing every single chatter in the room, ". . . are the blue bloods after us - the weakest district? I reckon."

Vigordi leaned his back against his chair. "Did our bloodline do something ages ago? From all the books of history I have finished, I remember not. Or maybe, it was a history buried in the ears of those who heard, eyes of those who witnessed, and lips of those who spoke," added the old man.

Incoherent chatters filled the chamber. It was a thought they realized just now.

"You have a point, Lord Vigordi. This phenomenon is unacceptable. Would you like to suggest any actions - preferably a non-violent one?" asked Lord Harold, the acting middle man of the three leaders, hands raising to silence the crowd.

Lord Vigordi stood up and walked back and forth in slow cadence; the sound of the sole of his leather shoes resonated through the room of taciturnity. The rhythm of his cane harmonized with his intimidating strides as his free hand held his stubbled chin, pulling off a stance of someone thinking profoundly.
