in which you're new neighbour is always making noise into all hours of the night and you're sick of not getting any sleep
~ ~ ~
I had never considered myself a violent person until my new neighbour moved in a few months ago and I found I wanted to kill him. Graphically.
I didn't know much about the guy, just that he was super private and wouldn't even leave the house without a mask.
Mrs Jensen downstairs was convinced he was a drug dealer but I don't know how much I believed that.
Mrs Jensen was just a judgy older women who liked to believe gossip more than fact, you couldn't trust something she told you.
He had moved in a few months ago, the only glimpse of his appearance I had ever seen was the few dark curls that fell out onto his forehead the day he walked into me coming out the elevator.
It had been awkward as he had mumbled a sorry and ran off, his voice so unusually deep I spent five minutes gaping after him before realising I was stood in the hall for nothing.
He wasn't a bad neighbour throughout the day either, his apartment next to mine always silent when the sun was up.
But he was so loud at night, whether it be voices shouting, games, music playing or even just his TV.
I was convinced he was a vampire as he seemed to be up all night, but some of us (meaning me) needed sleep, something I rarely got these days since he moved in.
I hit my head against my pillow in anger as I heard a loud scream from next door.
"I FUCKING HATE FOIL."
I glanced at the clock next to my bed to see it reading two a.m. You've got to be fucking kidding me.
Deciding I couldn't take this any longer, I pulled a hoodie on with my pyjamas which consisted of shorts and a t shirt and some shoes before stomping out my apartment and over to his door.
I banged loudly, waiting with a hand on my hip trying to emulate the stern pose Mrs Jensen pulls that gets people to do as she says.
The door opened slowly to reveal my neighbour. My breath caught in my throat when I realised he wasn't wearing his mask for once.
His hair was dark and slightly curly, slightly flopping onto his forehead as he stared down at me. I was momentarily distracted by his arms and hand as he reached up to hold the door above his head.
"You realise we have thin walls right?" I finally snapped out of staring at the boy and quirked an eyebrow at him.
"Oh." His eyes brightened in realisation when he realised what I was there for. "I'm sorry."
"Just keep it down." I turned to walk back to my apartment but his voice stopped me. Jeez that voice.
"I've not been horrible to live next to have I?" He asked nervously. "I didn't realise you could hear me."
