"Your name?"
"Alcie Arao."
"That's...a strange name," the man in front of her commented with interest. The man looked young-- his green eyes were bright, and his long brown hair was tied into a ponytail. He was apparently from Konoha's Intelligence Division. Alcie was glad they didn't send in anyone like Ibiki Morino.
Then again, there was no need to make any higher-ups interrogate someone like Alcie, who was clearly no fighter.
"I get that a lot," Alcie wished it was over already, though she knew there'd be more to come.
"Your age?"
"Twenty."
"What were you doing in the forest outside Konoha?"
"Well," this time, Alcie fiddled her thumbs nervously but still answered, "I was lost."
"Why were you there in the first place?"
"...That, I don't know."
"You don't know?"
Now, Alcie could feel his suspecting eyes burn into her.
"Yes, I don't know."
"So, you don't know why you were in the forest," the man repeated her answer as he crossed his arms in thought. Alcie knew how suspicious she sounded.
"That's right..."
"Can you elaborate?"
"Well...like I'd told Kakashi-san earlier...the last thing I remember is eating lunch with my sister at home. I don't know what happened after that. I guess I lost consciousness at some point, but when I woke up, I was in the forest..."
"You were at home...with your sister," the man took the clipboard that had rested on the table separating the two of them, before grabbing the pen he'd tucked behind his ear to write something down. "And somehow...loss consciousness but...you don't know why."
He raised his head again to look straight at her, and Alcie nodded her head in response.
"Where are you from?"
"That's...difficult to say," Alcie admitted anxiously. "I don't think you would recognize it."
"How are you so sure I won't?"
Because it's from a different universe! But Alcie couldn't tell him that. She felt it would complicate things.
"I...okay," Alcie fiddled her fingers together, still nervous, "I'm from America."
"Amerika? I've...never heard of it," the man blinked, dumbfounded that there was a place he didn't know about. He stroked his chin in thought before saying, "You don't seem to be lying."
"As you might be able to tell," Alcie sighed while directing her gaze at the lingering red marks from the rope her wrists were tied with, "I don't really have the power to try and deceive you."
"Do you want to go back home?"
That's a strange question to bring up in an interrogation... Alcie thought, but knew there was no harm in answering it.
"Of course," Alcie replied. "I just don't know if that's possible."
"What do you mean by that? Can you not travel there?"
"I don't think I can," she stated doubtfully. "Since I don't know how I got here in the first place, I don't know if there's a way back either."
"This is the only odd aspect to your story, I admit," he set the clipboard back on the table again and crossed his arms. "We might have to investigate your case further."
