Author~chan's POV~

when Atsushi still could not believe what had happened, she was restless and did not know what to do. it was only a few seconds before she hung up the call but she still remembered the man on the other line shouting for help

and the monster he also mentioned earlier? Atsushi thought it was Akutawaga because she was the only one she knew who was killing people here, and the other members of the Port Mafia. but what she just could not understand was why it happened so suddenly in an instant

and it was the first time she had ever received such a call that gave her fear and chills, because all her life she had not tampered with their phone in the office! because she knew that the only ones who could handle and use then were Kunikida, Dazai and others except her and Kyouka

and several times her other co-workers also reminded her not to interfere with the phone except for others, of course she obeyed because she did not want to be scold, but now. she broke the rule of their office!

she did not know what she was going to do, she felt she would faint from fear and nervousness

"what should I do?" she asked herself as she grabbed her hair

"Arghhhh!!!" she just groaned and looked around their office again

she needs a companion in this mission, because Kunikida is not there because he is doing important paperwork in the president's office, and Dazai is still missing until now and she does not know where he is, she can do nothing but invite Ranpo and accompany to her on the mission today

she just sighed heavily and approached Ranpo who was sleeping soundly in his seat

"umm...Ranpo-san?" she called the sleeping guy as she poke his cheek with her index finger

"hmmm?" when Ranpo hummed and his two eyes were open, Atsushi immediately pulled her hand away and smiled at him strangely

"c-can I ask a favor?" Atsushi stuttered as she played with her finger, while Ranpo just looked at Atsushi with half a lid. he noticed that Atsushi looked cute while playing with her finger

he couldn't control himself but just chuckled because of Atsushi

"What is it?" Ranpo asked and he sat down properly in his seat and faced Atsushi

Atsushi who is nervous and does not know how to explain everything, she feels he will be eaten alive because of her fear. she will admit she is not nervous about the mission she is going to do today. she was nervous because she touched the phone without the permission of the others

and that is what she fears!

"in fact, someone called earlier on the phone and I think he was asking for help" said Atsushi and she looked Ranpo in the eyes

"and he shouted that a monster was chasing him!" Atsushi blurted with tears in the corners of her eyes, she sees that Ranpo is still not answering everything she says, she feels she is doomed

"WAHHH! sorry if I touched the phone without your permission! I only answered that because I saw that you were asleep and then the others were busy with their jobs!" Atsushi cried and took Ranpo's hand

"WAHHHH! I'm so sorry!"

meanwhile, as Ranpo stares at Atsushi, he doesn't know if he will laugh or not. he did not expect Atsushi to cry because she just held their phone in the office

he is not angry, he just laughs because of Atsushi. it is true that they do not allow Atsushi to hold their office phone because it is too dangerous for her. because all the callers there are people asking for help and that mission is too difficult for Atsushi

and he could do nothing if Atsushi already touched the phone, it was also his fault because he let it go and just went to sleep

"That's okay Atsushi~chan, I know you didn't mean to" said Ranpo and patted Atsushi's head twice before standing up

"Come on, we still have a mission to finish!"

a few minutes later, Ranpo and Atsushi finally reached the place where the man said. notice that the place they went to was very dark and all that could be seen in front of them was the large warehouse that looked old as well.

it will also be noticed that those around them are very dirty, Atsushi feels they are in a hunted house while investigating

Atsushi grabbed the piece of paper in her hand and looked again to see if they had gone correctly

"Is this the place the man on the other line is referring to?" Ranpo asked and roamed around them, Atsushi nodded

"yes, it says it's in the XXXX warehouse, and that's it" said Atsushi and looked at Ranpo at what he was doing

while Ranpo is busy investigating, he feels that there is a problem with it. he thinks there seems to be something wrong with the place they went to. it will feel around them too heavy and quiet

and he wonders where the man is, if there is a monster in this area they should hear some noise or screaming for 'help'

Ranpo furrowed an eyebrow as he felt the wind pass by his side. his eyes immediately fell on Atsushi and he thought his prediction was correct

there is a real problem with the place they went to

"Atsushi-cha-!!" before he could finish what he was saying he felt a pain hit his neck and he suddenly lost consciousness. but before he fell to the ground Atsushi caught him at the right time

"R-Ranpo-san!" Atsushi gasped when she saw a small object stuck in Ranpo's neck, and she thought it was the reason why Ranpo fainted.

she did not know what he was going to do now. she could do nothing but just call Ranpo's name repeatedly trying to wake him up

and in a flash, their surroundings were filled with bright lights. and there were people wearing black suits holding guns in their hands as they surrounded the two of them. and the warehouse she had seen earlier suddenly disappeared and was replaced by a large machine she did not know what it was

Atsushi felt her body heat up when she saw the people's guns pointed at her. her fangs came out hugging tightly to Ranpo's conscious body

"Raise your hands, otherwise we will shoot you!" shouts a man coming from the left side

"raise my hands?! I don't even know you all!" Atsushi shouted back ready to rush

TAP! TAP! TAP!

their surroundings were filled with the echo of the loud tap that Atsushi thought was the sound of shoes, her eyes followed that loud sound, and in the distance she saw what she feared the most

"Are you sure about what you said, Atsushi~kun?"
