I entered high school with only one thing in mind and it is to survive these four years without failing any subjects. I thought high shoool would be the time where I'll be able to experience more of the "mature" stuff in life, like falling in love. Most movies and books these years are centered on teen love. Girl meets boy. Girl falls in love. Some other stuff happen. Then, girl ends up with boy. These all happen in school, mostly during high school.
I entered a different school when I entered high school. This school was much smaller than my previous school and much father from our house than the other. So to lessen the time of commuting, my parents decided to put me in a boarding house. It was not really a big deal since I was already used to not being in my parents' company. Anyway, let's move on.
The first day of class came. Most of my batchmates were from the same elementary school but I just recognize them by face and not by name. But after a month, I already have four close friends. We made a pact, more like I made a rule, stating that our high school years will be boy-free. None of us must have a boyfriend until high school ends. Crushes are acceptable. Having a MU, mutual understanding, relationship with another person would be fine as well. But having a boyfriend is a no-no. This was because having one would mean less time with the barkada. They can have all the time in college and after for those guys but while in high school. Friends must come first. As they say, "Bros before Whoes."
First year went well. As for second year, well, Sabrina was the first to break the rule, followed by Aci. Both relationships didn't last long. By the end of third year, Karen was the next to break the rule. Well, her relationship with that person must be pretty great since they are still together today. Fourth year came and although Grace had her suitor, she never broke the rule. By the end of four years, I could say that I am more close to Grace than any of the others because we spent more time together.
Love comes in different ways. Love comes in different kinds. Although that romantic love that I have always wished to experience didn't come during my high school years. I found long lasting friendship, which counts so much more. Love waits because she knows when heart will be ready for her.
