My New English Teacher

Chapter 16

MOM POV

I stormed out the house trying to think about this whole thing. I mean I know my husband and I were like a couple years apart... But that's her god damn teacher.

I began walking, not knowing where I'm walking to but I'm just gonna walk.

I came to a park, sherlon park.
I see kids running around playing and laughing, I see couples kissing and talking.

Then my husband came to my mind, I miss him so much I just wonder what he would've said about Destiny and her teacher kissing.

DESTINY POV

It's been 30 minutes and my mom haven't came back yet and I'm beginning to worry. I pull out my iPhone to call her.

Ring Ring.

No Answer.

"Ugh!!!" I shout forgetting that Tyler is in the room. My phone rings and I quickly check to see who it is.. Mom!

"Hello?"
'Mom, you okay?'
"Yes, I thought about it.."
'And?'
"Well I believe your father would've been okay with it"

I smile.

'Thanks mom.' I hang up the phone.

The door slowly opens and I stand up from the couch, my mom comes in. Her eyes are red and puffy like she's been.. Crying? I walk up to her "You okay?" I questioned. She wipes a tear and pulls me into her arms "Yes, just thinking about your father" she whispers.

She looked down at me "don't cry" she says wiping my tears. I didn't even realize I was crying. "It's okay he's in a better place now, and Steven is a good guy." I said.

A smile came across her face "I'll believe it, when I see it."

The doorbell rings and I make my way over to the entrance to see who it is. I stand on my tippy toes to look through the peephole, Steven!

I take a step back and unlock the door allowing him access to come in. "Hello." He says and places a kiss on my cheek. "I told my mom about us, you didn't have to come."

"I'm glad he did." My mom says walking towards us. "Nice to meet you Stephon." She greets him with a warm friendly smile.

He chuckles reaching his hand for hers "It's Steven, ma'am and it's a pleasure to meet you too." She nods shaking his hand and walks back to the kitchen to continue preparing dinner.

"Want to stay for dinner?" I ask and he nods "I'm glad you're mom is cool about us." He says.

I started thinking.. What is 'us' are we dating? Or are we just goofing around.. I need to ask.

I cleared my throat "Steven what are we?" I question. He looks up at me with an eyebrow raised "What do you mean?"

"I mean.. Are we dating?" My heart starts thumping afraid of what his answer might be.

"No, I haven't asked you out properly. I want to wait a little more, I really like you destiny. And I'd like to know more about you." Was his answer.

I guess that makes sense, I nod and smile.

"DINNERS READY!" My mom shouts from the kitchen.
Tyler runs downstairs to find his seat. I walk into the kitchen and tell my mom that Steven is staying for dinner, she approves and we eat our Pasta.

"That was great Mrs. Gates." Steven says and smiles he stands up and grab his dish "I'll help with the dishes."

My mom looks at him, then stares at me. "Um, I'll help too." I say standing up and gathering the dishes on the table.

"He's very polite and a keeper."
My mom smiles.

I smile back, and walk to the kitchen where I see Steven already cleaning some dish. "You know my mom is beginning to really like you."
He chuckles "Great."

I began helping him wash the dishes.

"Thanks for coming." I say to Steven and place a kiss on his soft lips. "Anytime." He replies kissing me back and leaving.

This night was great, I'm really happy my mom likes him and I think my dad would've like him as well.

I run upstairs to my room. I could use a shower. I strip myself and adjust the water. Hot, just the way I like it.

I get out the shower after 10 minutes. I open my closet and pick out a white tank top to sleep in. I climb on to my bed and close my eyes.
