I'm putting my A/N at the start of the chapter as it might contain some trigger warnings. The description doesn't go too deep, but I'm just warning you. The romance starts when they leave the party (spoiler alert) and finishes when it flips back into the hospital. I just thought that I'd warn you just in case.
As always, thanks for reading.

P.S. This chapter's really long; I hope you like it.

"Hello, Alex."
"Hello Dr Peters," I say as she walks past me into her office. "Um, I have a quick question."
"Sure, shoot."
"When do you think either of my girls will be able to come home?"
"I can't say for sure, but Maisie's proceeding well with her rehab so maybe a month or so, but Savannah, I can't say. Until she's more active, we can only hope that she responds. Okay?"
I'm a little disheartened by her response, but I understand where she's coming from. "Yes, thank you." I leave the doorway and continue down the corridor to Savannah's room. She's gazing distractedly out the window when I know on the door. "Hey, you." She looks up at my voice but doesn't say anything, as always. "I see Maisie's been to visit you again," I say, noticing a new picture above her bedside table. She nods and I step forwards, closing the door behind me so that I can see it more clearly, before sitting down on my usual chair. "I'm going to tell you about one evening that happened about a month after I moved in with you and Maisie. I think I'm going to find it a little awkward towards the end so I might skip that bit, well just listen." I look down at my hands before continuing. "I'd heard about a party from one of my classmates. He wasn't my friend really, but he invited me. Maisie was also spending the weekend at Savannah's parents' house, so it was just the two of us meaning that we didn't have to find a babysitter." I know I'm ranting, but I'm honestly a little scared to tell the story. "You got all dressed up, as you do for a party, and I just wore my cleanest pair of jeans and a smart-ish t-shirt. We left the apartment at around seven-thirty to get to the party at eight. In all honestly, I was kind of excited to be going as I'd been to one of this guy's parties before and it was really good fun."

"Right, this is it," I said as we stood outside the building. I turned to look at Savannah next to me. She looked worried. "Are you okay? We can go home if you want."
She turned to look at me. "No, let's do this. You have to get over fears at one point, don't you?"
"Savannah?"
"It's nothing, I promise." She took hold of my hand and began walking up the path. I let her drag me, but her eagerness was slightly unsettling.
Inside, there were people everywhere and loud music was being pumped into the air through large speakers positioned in each corner.
"I'm going to get a drink, you want one?"
"I'm coming with you."
"If you insist."
I gripped onto her hand as she weaved through the people. If I lost her, I didn't know what I'd do. Everyone looked the same in the dim lighting and I knew that some of the people here wouldn't hesitate if they saw her. We made it into the kitchen and the music quietened like there was a sound barrier in the doorway. There were significantly fewer people in the brightly lit room and the table in the centre was covered in stacks of red plastic cups.
"What do you want?"
"Water, please."
"Come on Alex, you can't be serious. We're at a party. You are not having water."
