In the hours of the night when your light has long vanished from my eyes.
I will see the stars and know it still remains, for I have heard the sound of your voice, and sung the songs you have left me.
I have heard a sound in the stillness, calling me for slumber.
But how can I sleep in the changing seasons of life and death?
How can I breathe when my heart longs for your return to an empty space?
You have been above me, when my soul longs to leave this earth.
Your warmth still shelters me when all else has forsaken me.
I could face armies with nothing but you as my shield, and bear scars beyond counting with pride.
Nothing can break me, except your absence.
