Happy Birthday

2 weeks later (Kings POV)

I opened my eyes. It was dark in our room. But it's probably to early to get up. I looked over to Devs bed. He wasn't there, I guess he went to get something to drink. I rolled over on my side to see him shaking next to me. "Dev? Are you okay?" I whispered softly as I wrapped my arm around him and pushed him closer to me. "I-I heard a l-Lou-loud noise a-nd got s-sc-scared." It was probably lightning. "Sh~ Hey, it's okay Dev~ I'm here." He wrapped his arms around me. I rubbed his back gently as he cried quietly. I heard a lighting strike. Dev moved his head onto my chest. I scratched his head gently with my other hand. I heard soft purring. I felt my cheeks go warm. I smiled as I closed my eyes and slowly go to sleep, Dev doing the same.

In the morning (Devils POV)

I slowly open my eyes. I squinted in the dark. Wait...why am I in Kings bed cuddling with him? ...At least he's warm. I felt his fingers scratch my head. I moved closer to him, softly purring. I heard a door creak open, footsteps following after. "Aw~ how cute! I wonder if they always sleep like this." I heard Dr.Khal whisper to himself. "I guess I can let them sleep till they wake up. It is Saturday after all." ...Maybe we can go to the park today. I know King wanted to go a few days ago but it started raining. I heard him leave and shut the door. "King? Are you awake?" I heard him yawn. "Yeah." "Maybe we can go to the park today. I know you wanted to a few days ago." He took his hand off my head and rubbed his eyes. "That sounds fun!" I sat up and he hugged my side. "Hey, what did I say about hugs?" "You know I can't resist hugging you! Your so soft and warm." I sighed and pushed him off of me. "I know. Come on, let's go get some breakfast." I walked to the door. "Dev?" "Yeah?" "I have to change out of my night clothes. ...And your not even wearing clothes." He giggled. "We've been over this! I'm covered in fur! I don't need to wear clothes!" "Your still naked!" He laughed. "...Fine. But I'm stealing your hoodie." I walked to our dresser in between our beds and opened the top drawer. I tried but couldn't see anything in there. King turned a lamp on. It was sitting next to him on his side of the dresser. "Better?" "Yeah. Thanks." I moved the clothes around till I found his lavender hoodie. I put it on. He stood up and grabbed a red flannel and grey pants. "Are you gonna stay in here while I change or?" My felt my face go warm. "I-I uh...See you in the cafeteria!" I ran out the door, Kings giggling filling our room. I walk to the cafeteria and grab a trey. There was some scrambled eggs and a piece of toast with a small container of butter next to it. I walked to the table next to the cafeteria doors and sat down. Me and King would normally sit here because other kids wouldn't sit here. I took a bite of my eggs. They tasted good so I took another bite. I looked up to see James sitting there with his trey, he had a biscuit instead of toast. "Why are you sitting alone bud?" I spread some of the butter on my toast with a dull butter knife. "King wanted to change, so I went ahead and left." "You still could have sat with some of the other kids. Why didn't you?" Because I only like King. Anyone else is to annoying. "I just wanted King to be able to find me." "I would have been able to find you if you sat with someone else. Also, both of you forgot to get something to drink." King sat a glass of orange juice next to me. He gave James grape juice and sat next to me. He had apple juice and a biscuit aswell. "Thanks King..." I mumbled. "Your welcome!" He said giving my arm a quick hug before cutting his biscuit in half. "Yeah, thank you! How did you already remember my favorite juice?" "You always have it for breakfast." "Fair enough!" He laughed. I took a sip of my orange juice and took another bite of my eggs. "Hey King, isn't today your birthday?" I asked. I knew it was, he told me a few years ago and that his family never celebrated it before. I've celebrated it with him ever since then. "Oh yeah. I guess I forgot. Why?" "What do you want to do for it?" "What we always do? We almost never go to our spot unless one of us is really upset or if it's our birthday." I chuckled. "Fair enough." "It's your birthday today?" James asked.
King nodded since he had just took a bite of his egg sandwich he made. "We always celebrated it together since his family doesn't believe in it." "How strange. Do you want me to tell Dr.Khal? Then we can all celebrate together." King shook his head. "No offense, but I would rather just spend it with Dev. We have our own traditions for it." "I understand. I used to be like that with my cousins before they moved. Just tell us if you leave okay? And where your going. We wanna keep you guys safe." I nodded my head and finished my toast and juice. "By the way, I wanted to go to the park today, is that okay?" "Sure, just be safe okay? And I'm guessing King will be joining you?" I nodded my head. "Alright, just be back before dinner." "Okay." James took our dirty dishes to the kitchen for us and told us to have fun. Me and King left the cafeteria and went back to our room. "So, what are we doing back here?" He asked me. "I need to grab something." I responded. I looked under my bed to find my school bag. I pulled it out and looked inside. Favorite book? Check. Blanket? Check. Map in case we get lost? Check. Special gift to King? Check. Money for lunch? Check. I zipped up the bag and put it on my back. "Ready to go?" I asked King. "Yep!"
