(I know it's not Christmas right now, but it was when I started this book and I haven't gotten past that yet, so I'm going to do that now. Enjoy the chapter.)

Devils POV

I looked at the time. 8:30. Wow...I've been reading for awhile. I heard a bump on the door, followed by a faint ow.

King came into our room wearing his usual purple pants with a white button up.

"Did you run into the door?"

"That's not important. Do you know what day it is?" He said excitedly.

"Silly hat day?" I asked looking at the red hat on his head. It had a white ball hanging off the top.

"...no. And my hats not dumb-"

"Sure."

"...You do know Christmas tomorrow, right?"

"Really? I thought it would be over by now..."

He sat next to me on my bed. I put my head on his shoulder.

"I don't see how you can hate Christmas so much..."

"Because, it has to do with my dad. And I hate my dad, therefore I hate it."

"You can't hate him forever Devi. That was a long time ago."

"Yeah, well, what he did was unforgivable. I mean, who kicks their own kid out for asking questions?"

"..."

"Oh...right...King I'm sorry-"

"It's fine...just, please celebrate it this once? For me?"

His eyes stared into mine. He looks so helpless... I sighed.

"Just this once..."

His face lit up.

"Thank you!"

He got off the bed and pulled my arm with him, causing me to fall onto the floor.

"Ow..."

"Sorry!"

I slowly got up.

"It's fine. Where are we going?"

"We can decorate gingerbread cookies in the cafeteria. Since you said you would celebrate with me, I thought that you would want to decorate a cookie with me."

"Can we eat them after?"

"Obviously."

"Well, what are you waiting for? I'm starving!"

I walked out of our room, King still holding onto my wrist. He let go so he could hold my paw instead.

Once we got to the cafeteria we sat down next to a few other kids. There was candy and different colored icings in the middle of the table. James gave each of us a person-shaped gingerbread cookie.

"Devil? What are you doing here? You told me that you hated Christmas." James said as a few kids around us gasped.

"I promised King to celebrate this year."

"Well, welcome to the party."

I gave him a sarcastic yay before he smiled and moved on to other tables.

"Hey Dev? What if we make the cookies look like each other?"

"Okay."

I snapped the head off and tried to make it look like a square. I accidentally snapped his arm off though...oh well, it'll be fine.
