7. A race to save their lives

A/N: Sadly I've decided to end this story earlier than I had hoped, but there will be two more chapters (including this one). There is two reasons i want to end it: first being that writing a male-female and female-male body swap story is very straining on my mind and I don't want to make myself brain dead (no offence if you know a person who is or was brain dead), and second I'm not enjoying this story any more and its hard to write a story you don't enjoy. Thank you for reading my story and enjoy the final two chapters.

Wanda's (Luke) PoV -

After returning from Lagos with Rumlow in custody me and my girlfriend in my own body which never gets less wired started to walk back to my room but before we could get halfway through the kitchen our knees buckled beneath us pulling us harshly to the ground, ripping our consciousness away from us.

- third-person PoV -

"What just happened to them," Tony yelled out hoping someone would have an answer

"scans reveal that their minds are not compatible with each other. If not switched back soon they will die" Esme stated as Luke had replaced the HQ's Ai with Esme.

"are you able to do that?" Pietro called stood next to his sister and her boyfriend

"unfortunately I can't, I cant perform any medical treatment or advise you through this, the only thing person that can help is Loki" Esme responded "if not fixed within 36 hours then they will die"

as soon as the Ai had finished talking Thor, Clint and Vision raced into the med bay after having just returned from Asgard visiting Heimdall to ask about Loki "my friends, we have bad news from Heimdall. He has informed us that Loki died a week ago! What has happened to the lovebirds I bet on!!" Thor said, his voice like a loudspeaker on max volume.

"quiet down pointbreak, as Loki has now been confirmed dead we have no way to save Luke and Wanda, as when they switched their bodies and minds began to die, they were never going to have much chance, even if Loki was alive. They signed their own death warrant without knowing, Pietro, Clint you two stay with them, other than each other you two mean the most to them" Cap added

Wanda's (Luke)PoV -

somehow me and Wanda are in some form of a shared fever dream, with each other. The mindscape looked like avengers headquarters but through the windows a blinding white cloud I've seen once before a long time ago, a dangerous substance known as anti-matter capable of destroying anything and everything without a possibility of stopping it

"We can not give up on our friends," Wanda said

"look out the window, that wave of anti-matter will engulf us in 4 hours roughly, if we don't escape before then we will die with no chance of survival, all that stuff does is destroy and if we don't figure something out, or somehow get a message to the team then we die in our minds and our bodies will die as well," I responded

- three and 55 minutes later hours later -

for the last 3 hours, we've been trying to find a way out of this nightmarish place and have failed all four times but at least I created a link to the outside world where Tony and Bruce are trying to help us figure something out. Our first idea to electrocute our bodies failed to give us nasty burns in the dreamscape electrocute ourselves in the dream state also failing. nothing we tried worked. It would only be five minutes till the anti-matter wave hit us destroying our minds and therefore killing our bodies. At this point the pair of us decided to give up, we knew that we couldn't come up with another plan to save us in that amount of time, it was either try and fail again or die having made peace with the world. One minute before the wave struck us we sent a video message saying goodbye to our family, the avengers. the greatest family on earth. and with a final kiss the wave tore us atom from atom painlessly
