"Here, Hannah, have some breakfast," my mom said.
I sighed, "Fine."
I wasn't a big breakfast person, but my mom was relentless when it came to this sort of stuff. At least my siblings were still sleeping. I hated eating in front of them. They were the grossest eaters sometimes.
"So, Han, how's college been lately?" my dad said.
"Busy," I said, "And weird. The teachers are something else. They either think that they're still seventeen or they act like stuck-up tossers all the time."
Just then, someone knocked on the door. My dad got up to answer it. There was Chris, standing at the door, completely naked.
"Dear lord, Chris! What happened to you?" my dad said, completely shocked. My mom got up and gave him a blanket so he could be covered up.
Chris sat on the couch, unresponsive for a few minutes until he finally told us what happened. I went to a party at his house a few days prior. He threw it because his mom was out of town and left him with a bunch of money, and he had spent it all already. But then he started to realize that maybe she abandoned him and left town for good. So that morning, he went to take a shower when somehow a homeless man got into his house. The man kicked him out and locked the door. So he walked over to our house. His dad, my uncle had abandoned him, Peter, and his mother. He also completely cut off my dad.
"Can he please stay here? He has nowhere else to go," I practically begged my parents. Chris was upstairs changing, so he couldn't hear us talking.
"I think your father and I need to talk about this a bit more," my mom said, "Go upstairs and see if your cousin needs anything."
So I went upstairs and saw Chris standing in the hallway.
"Hey, Chris. You ok?" I said softly. I had never seen him like this. Even during the tough times, he'd always have a smile on his face.
Instead of saying anything, he walked towards me, leaned down, and hugged me. Tighter than he ever had. I could hear him crying softly into my chest too.
"Don't cry," I said soothingly, stroking his hair. I couldn't imagine how he was feeling. The poor thing.
"What's wrong with Chris?"
I turned my head around and saw Ava and James walk out of their rooms.
"Just hug your cousin," I said, continuing to comfort Chris.
The two of them hugged Chris as well, forming a group hug.
