4- Step By Step

"Dear Leafy,

I think I got something that's called a crush.
There is this person I know, and they're just so cool and friendly. It's like I want to become closer to them, both socially and physically. But I'm honestly scared.
What if they reject it? What if they leave me?
Is there anything I can do to show I got a crush on them without it being obvious?

TEARDROP'S POV

I sigh in silence, then close the letter. It's been over 2 days since I talked to my friends. I have to recover from whatever the hell happened to my legs.
Everytime I try to move, there's a pain in both of my legs. Sometimes I even fall down because of the pain.
Currently sitting on my bed, I look around my room, wondering if I should give the letter to Leafy now.
Suddenly, somebody pops up inside my room. Ah, It's the co-host and sweet algebralien, X.

X: "Hello there, Teardrop! I uh, was coming by to see if you're recovering."

I nod and do a thumbs up in response. While X continues speaking, I hide the letter under my pillow.

X: "Oh, okay! Well, you should probably rest for a little more. Four said you had to rest for at least two and a half days."

A really short silence occurs.

X: "Anyway, I'll be heading back outside, playing with my lovely baskets!"

X then disappears again. I take the letter and carefully stand up. The pain is lighter than last time. It's about time I walk again.
I go out of my room. It's around 6:30am right now, so most of the people are sleeping. But I do know Leafy wakes up around 6:30am, so that's good.
I suddenly spot her right around the corner, so I quickly hide.

Leafy: "Boy, I'm tired. Maybe I shouldn't have taken so much coffee when hanging out with Flower..."

I mentally sigh, my feelings really are true...
I fold the note into a paper plane, and throw it right next to her. She immediately notices it, and I quickly hide again. After some seconds, I look back to Leafy.

I can feel her kind smile from a mile away. She then walks downstairs, probably to get breakfast, while she folds the letter back to normal.
I then realize my face became more warm, like there was a blood rush. (get it? cuz blush is like a blood rush- ok.)
After a while of daydreaming, I walk back to my room to rest my legs again.

LEAFY'S POV

As I walk downstairs to prepare my breakfast, I think of what's in the letter and what I should reply with.
I think that's also the reason why she's more... quiet, physically. She uses less sign language than normal. It's probably of what happened with her some days ago. Anyways, after my breakfast, I decided to go and visit Teardrop's room, since I already know what to reply to her with. Suddenly, somebody appeared right behind me.

???: "What are you doing so early? You should be asleep!"

I turn around to face Four. Ah, the funny host of this on-hiatus show!

Leafy: "Oh, hello there! I was on my way to visit Teardrop to check how she's doing!"
Four: "Mmbut It's only 7 in the morning! They might be sleeping!"
Leafy: "I don't think she's sleeping right now, though."

A small silence occurs.

Four: "Fine, but try to not awake the others!"
Leafy: "Alright, your Four-ner!"

And with that, they disappear again.
I'm already close to her room, so I take some steps and knock on the door, waiting for a response.
Faster than I expected, Teardrop opened the door. Her face light up when she saw me.

Leafy: "Hey hey, TD! May I come in?"

She nods, opening the door for me to come in, then closes it again. She walks to her chair and sits.

Leafy: "How are your legs? Are they healing more now?"

Teardrop does a thumbs up, while smiling.

Leafy: "That's good to hear! Anyway, about that letter."

This time she doesn't look nervous. She's listening very carefully instead.

Leafy: "So, maybe try to give with smaller hints, like hugs and hanging out with them. Try not to do everything at once. Instead, just go step by step. Think about the person as well, and how they feel when you give out small hints. I know it might sound hard, but you can get through it, I know that!"

I now wonder who that special person is. But I'll give her the privacy she needs for now.
She smiles at me and nods. It's like she's saying 'thank you'.
I chuckle.

Leafy: "No problem! Well, I'll leave you to rest for now. I'll see you later!"

I wave at her, before opening the door and closing it behind me. I let out a sigh.
For some reason, I still feel worried about Teardrop, like she's going to hurt herself again.
I walk back to my room.

Well, I do know what I'm going to say next time.
