kids' night off // homestuck

• Chapter 1

"OH.. MY GOD! I FUCKIN' KNEW IT!"
"Jesus! Keep it down, will you!"

It was just an ordinary lunchtime and I was in the cafeteria with Roxy surrounded by people who were now staring at us, thanks to her.

"Okay okay... Keep calm Rox... Ahem... Say it again!"
"Roxy that's childis--"
"Spit it out, D-Stri!"

I rolled my eyes and sighed. Then started talking in a way that was as silent as possible to avoid more people staring at us.

"I think I started crushing on Jake or.. whatever."

There was a long silence afterwards. Roxy took a bite out of her apple and didn't really say anything for a good 3 minutes. Until I reached out and grabbed the water bottle, then started drinking it.

"So like.. Have you told him you wanna bang him someday yet orrrr...??"

I choked on the water that I was drinking and looked her dead in the eye.

"Oh whoops. Sorry."

She giggled a bit and looked at the cafeteria door.

"Well well.. Look who's here!"

She rested her chin on her palm and then proceeded to point at Jane and Jake who were entering just now.

They came to our table and sat next to us. Jake sitting next to me and Jane sitting next to Roxy, of course.

"Phew! Sorry we're late. I helped Jake on the way. He dropped his books and me being the life-saver helped him of course."
"Geez Jane, you really gonna expose me like that?"

They giggled, and so did Roxy. All I could do was give them a weak smile because I wasn't feeling the best.

"Ey, what's wrong chap? I haven't seen you this gloomy."
"Oh, nothing. I just don't feel like myself today, I guess."
"Whatever you say, Strider."

He then gave me a wink and a smile. Jake being Jake. Made me feel a bit better though.

"Anyways, did we miss out anything?"
"No not really, me and Dirk were just talking about stuff."

Before Jane could raise her eyebrow and ask the topic, Roxy put her hand on Jane's shoulder.

"Personal stuff."
"My my, you won't tell 'Janey', your BFF?"
"Hehe, nopes!"

Jane smiled and rolled her eyes while she readjusted her glasses.

"Oh, not to forget: Does anybody wanna have a night-out at my place today? We've been studying a tad too much in my opinion, and we deserve a break."
"Oh yes! A movie night perhaps?"
"You've got out the big guns Janey, Jake can't resist that now!"

Jake smiled:
"Certainly. Everybody knows I can't resist watching movies."
"The last time I came over to your place to chat and do homework, we finished Avatar!"
"Bu-"
"TWICE, Jake. Holy hell!"

We all laughed while Jake gave me a playful hit on the arm.

"Oh come on Dirk, it wasn't me that chose to watch Avatar that day!"
"I just picked something like you told me to, I never thought I'd be sitting down on a couch watching a man betray his entire planet just to be with blue alien chicks for a good 3-4 hours."

We all giggled at that. God, we're laughing at everything we can find today. I'm somehow enjoying it whatsoever.

"Whatever you say, I won't let you make me get tired of that movie ever!"
"Bro I know, everyone does in fact."

We went silent for a while and I started to "mimic" Jake.

"Oh golly! Blue ladies! Please marry me I love you so much!"

Jane and Roxy were trying so hard not to come off rude and laugh.
Jake, hovewer: wasn't really satisfied with this.

"Oh look, I'm Dirk! I love making useless rapping-robots and I'm also gay, pretty cool huh? I never take off my shades because I'm scared of Jake complimenting me!"

Jane then giggled a bit:
"O-Oh.."

Roxy and Jane couldn't hold on any longer, and started laughing while I blushed a little.

"Jake."
"Dirk."

We gave eachother a half-assed smile and started laughing as well.
We were so loud that we didn't even realise they bell had already rang.

"Gosh, we don't wanna be late: do we?"
"Unless Jake drops his books from his locker again of course."
"Diiiirk! Stop being such a pain in the bum!"
"You guys are fucking hilarious, I swear."

We walked to out lockers, grabbed the books that we needed and went to our classes after promising we'll meet up here again.
