It had been about two weeks since Atsumu walked Sakusa home. The two have chatted occasionally, nothing too serious. Osamu was glaring at Sakusa whenever he had the chance. Sakusa was confused on why Osamu disliked him so much, Sakusa hadn't did anything to piss the guy off. Was it because of Atsumu? Did Osamu think he did something to Atsumu? That wasn't the case. Sakusa was a germaphobe, if he did something to hurt Atsumu, it sure wasn't intentional.
Sakusa sat in the back of class, staring out the window. It was raining, again. It had been raining on and off almost everyday that week. A sigh escaped from Sakusa's lips, barely being heard because of the black mask that covered his face. A piece of paper was thrown at his head, bouncing off his forehead. He huffed, looking up to see who threw the contaminated object. Suna Rinatro. Suna was Osamu's best friend who often hung out with Atsumu. Sakusa put on hand sanitizer before opening the paper.
Go to the restroom now.
Sakusa blinked, looking back up at Suna from the piece of paper that laid in his hands. Suna scrunched his face, his dark eyes looked more closed than usual. Sakusa exhaled shakily, raising his hand to "use the restroom."
After being granted permission to leave, Sakusa pulled his clear gloves over his hands and heads out the door. He goes to the restroom, like he was told to do so. Waiting inside was Osamu with another grey headed boy. Sakusa raised his dark eyebrow, crossing his arms over his chest. "What is this about?" he muttered, keeping his head low, avoiding eye contact with the other boys. Osamu huffed, causing Sakusa to look up at him. "What do you want from me? I kinda' have to get back to class." He sounded more angry, which surprised the boy who he didn't know the name of.
"What's the deal with you and 'Tsumu?" Osamu finally spoke, his voice sounding more sluggish than his twin's. He looked over at Sakusa with angry eyes and a disgusted expression.
"There's no deal? What are you even going on about?" Sakusa's eyes widened as he defended himself. "I haven't done anything to your brother. All he did was walk me home once and we talk here and there, that's all."
The male with no name cleared his throat. "You're all he talks about and we just wanna' know why. Do you like him or something?"
Sakusa felt his face heat up. Did he likes Atsumu? Sure, Atsumu was attractive and all, but Sakusa never had feelings toward anyone before. Surely Atsumu wasn't gay, not many people were in their school. Sakusa shook his head. "I barely know the guy- Don't go around assuming things!"
Osamu squinted, shaking his head afterwards. "Come on, Kita. We will deal with him later."
Sakusa gulped. "What do you mean-? Did I do something to hurt Atsumu? If I did, I'm sorry- I didn't mean to offend him in any way at all-"
Kita cut him off. "-Go talk to Atsumu yourself. I think he would like to hear it from you more than hearing it from us." Kita and Osamu exited the restroom, leaving Sakusa by himself. The two chatted in the hallway quiet enough so only the two of them can hear each other.
Sakusa smacked his left hand against his forehead and groaned. He didn't do anything bad, did he? Did he say something? He tried to remember the conversations he had had with Atsumu and one in particular rung a bell.
Atsumu and Sakusa were walking together to school that day. Atsumu had his bright smile on his face, while Sakusa looked like he wanted to murder someone. Atsumu was kicking pebbles as the two of them walked. "Don't you just love animals, Omi-Kun?" Atsumu had said.
Sakusa hated animals. They were filled with germs and unknown diseases that no one knew about. He shivered at just the word "animal." Sakusa hummed and then replied, "No, I don't like them at all."
"What-? You don't?" Atsumu gasped, placing his right hand over his heart. "How dare you! Animals are the most adorable creatures in the world! There has to be one animal you like."
Sakusa rolled his eyes. "If you think animals are 'adorable,' you shouldn't refer to them as creatures, Atsumu. And besides, you don't need animals to be happy, so why have a favorite?"
"You and I are creatures," Atsumu began, his lips curling into a pout, "And animals do make people happy! Haven't you heard about the dogs and cats that help with mental disorders such as anxiety and depression? I think having a pet fox would be cool." Atsumu had lowered his voice. "He can really help me."
Sakusa muttered. "Foxes are stupid, Atsumu. They come from the wild. They have diseases."
Atsumu had frowned at Sakusa's response. "They aren't stupid, Omi. That's your opinion, so it really doesn't matter to me. You should change your mind about animal, though. You never know, you might end up liking them!"
Sakusa scoffed. "Righttt. I.." he did air quotes. "'Might' end up liking them."
"You're so mean, Omi-Kun." Atsumu pouted, wrapping his arms around himself as his blonde hair blew in the wind.
Sakusa felt his insides twist. Did Atsumu have a mental disorder? That's the only thing that stood on his mind. Atsumu had mentioned an animal could help him, but Sakusa ignored Atsumu's sign. Sakusa felt like an idiot for not being able to catch that earlier. He took out his phone, pulling up Atsumu's contact.
Sakusa: Meet me after school by the bus stop?
He was about to slide his phone in his pocket when he got a ping.
Atsumu: Sure, Omi!! See you then!!
Goddammit, Sakusa.
