The dark clouds filled what once was the bright blue sky. The trees were bare, the leaves had fallen off weeks before. Sakusa let out a small huff, shaking his head. Sakusa was a tall male, he always wore a black mask. He wasn't sick, he just had a phobia. The people on campus were used to Sakusa. They knew the rules. You must be at least 8 feet away from him, you must not touch him, you must use hand sanitizer if you have to touch him. Thunder roared from the sky. Sakusa looked up, rolling his dark eyes. "Of course." he muttered. He pulled the thin yellow hood from his sweatshirt over his head. It wasn't common to rain around in his area of town. He didn't like the rain either; it made him feel uncomfortable when his clothing was wet. Sakusa felt a rain droplet fall onto his head. He knew what this meant. He had to ride the bus. Was riding the bus really worth not getting soaked? He tapped his masked chin, sighing.
"Sakusa." a deep voice came from behind.
Sakusa whipped himself around, staring at the voice. He squinted, shoving his cold hands into the pockets of his yellow sweatshirt. He exhaled, smoke seeping out of his mask. "Atsumu."
Atsumu was a bit shorter than Sakusa. He had dirty blonde hair with hints of brown. His eyes shimmered as he looked at Sakusa. Atsumu grinned at Sakusa, wiggling his eyebrows. "Omiii."
Sakusa rolled his dark eyes, scoffing. "I told you to stop calling me that. It's annoying."
Atsumu leaned back onto his heels. "I like calling you that, though. It's my nickname for you."
Nickname? Sakusa thought. He shook his head, huffing. Smoke was still coming out of his mouth as he breathed out. "I have never had a nickname before."
Atsumu raised his eyebrows, his eyes locked onto Sakusa's. "Never had a nicknamee before, huh? Well, you might as well keep the one I gave you then." Atsumu chuckled, his right hand coming up to his mouth, covering his laugh.
Sakusa narrowed his eyes at the other male. He was conufsed on why Atsumu gave him such a weird name. "Where did you get 'Omi' from?" he asked, leaning forward on his toes, curious.
Atsumu looked at Sakusa, shocked. "You really don't know? I thought it was pretty obvious."
The blue bus took a quick stop in front of the two boys. Sakusa looked at Atsumu. "Are you going on the bus?"
"No. Are you?" Atsumu held back a laugh. He couldn't imagine Sakkusa riding the bus, or any public transportation now that he thought about it. Sakusa nodded, Atsumu's jaw dropped. "You're not going on the bus. Now come on."
"What do you mean I'm not going on the bus?" Sakusa raised his eyebrow as Atsumu hurried off, away from the bus. "H-Hey, Atsumu! Come back! Answer me." Sakusa leaned forward, hands on his knees and he caught up to Astumu. He was breathing heavily, looking up at his blonde headed companion. "I-I.. I said to answer me.."
Atsumu spun around, looking at the huffing boy. "You're coming with me."
"W-..With you?" Sakusa cleared his throat, rubbing his hands over one another. "I don't think so."
Atsumu put his arms behind his back, rocking on his heels. "Welllll.. your bus just left."
Sakusa quickly looked for the bus, gasping. "You little.. You made me miss my bus!" he shouted, clenching his fists. "That's not fair!"
"Life isn't fair, Omi. Now come on." Atsumu trailed off with Sakusa not too far behind. The blonde boy opened his orange umbrella with foxes covering each side. Atsumu held it above their heads. "Now you won't get soaked," he said, giving Sakusa a reassuring smile.
Sakusa hummed, wincing at the distance between him and Atsumu. The blonde boy was kind, but despite his kindness, Sakusa couldn't bare how close the two were. "Atsumu.."
Atsumu glanced over to where Sakusa was backing up. Atsumu let out an "oh" and handed Sakusa the umbrella. "You can take it. I'm sorry, I forgot."
Sakusa took the umbrella with hesitation. He noticed how a spark of fear appeared in Atsumu's eyes. He let out a sigh, stepping away. "You can have the umbrella. I'm fine."
"No, Omi-Kun. I want you to use it! Just accept it and I will walk with you home, if that's okay with you."
Atsumu pulled his black hood over his messy hair. He slipped his large hands into the pockets of his grey sweatpants, Sakusa observed Atsumu's actions. From the way Atsumu walked to the way his mouth would curve up when he smiled while he was thinking. "Thank you, Miya." Atsumu nodded, staying the 8 feet away from Sakusa. Sakusa bit on his lower lip, causing the soft skin rip. Kiyoomi, how do you do small talk? He is being kind, don't be a jerk.
A car pulled up to the sidewalk curb, rolling down the window quickly. "Atsu!"
Atsumu blinked, his dark eyes going small. "Samu? What are you doing here?" Atsumu walked up to the beaten down white car, which was covered in scratches and dirt marks.
Sakusa immediately backed away from the sight. He tried to make out the person that was from inside the car. He exhaled and shook his head. It was Osamu, Atsumu's twin brother. Osamu was the one who was always getting into trouble with his best friend, Suna. The pair were either out partying doing God knows what or dragging Atsumu along to pay for the stuff they neededto purchase. Osamu spotted Sakusa from the outside and looked at Atsumu. "You're with him?" Osamu asked, his lips curling in disgust. "And why does he have your umbrella?"
Atsumu looked back at Sakusa who backed away. "I was walking him home and it was raining, so I let him use my umbrella. Is there a problem?" He raised his dark eyebrows at his brother, Osamu just shook his head. "Thought so."
"Anyway, I need you to come with me." Osamu opened the passenger door from the inside, motioning for his brother to come in. "It's urgent."
"But- I'm walking home with Omi-Kun. I can help you out later." Atsumu shut the door, furrowing his eyebrows. Sakusa was startled when Atsumu made his way to him. "Ready, Omi? Let's go."
Osamu glared at Sakusa as Atsumu and him walked past the car. Sakusa muttered under his breath. What am I even doing?
Atsumu stopped in his tracks once he reached Sakusa's house. He looked at the curly headed boy with awe in his eyes. "We reached our destination, Omi-Kun. Have a good night!" Atsumu spun on his heel to head in the direction of his own house.
"Wait-" Sakusa reached his hand out to grab Atsumu's arm, but pulls away almost immediately. "..You need your umbrella, Miya. You have a good night, too. Be safe on your way home. Text me if you need anything, okay?"
Atsumu blinked as he faced the other male.
