Chapter 9

Rapunzel's POV

After a while of running, we finally stopped. We put our stuff down and I put pascal on my shoulder while Hiccup took Toothless off his leash. Then Hiccup went to gather some wood. I saw him rubbing two piece of wood. During this time, Hiccup didn't talk he just looked angry, but why?

Then after rubbing the sticks for a while, he got more angry. "Argh!" He screamed. Then he went to a tree and punched it. "Hiccup! Are you ok?!" I asked nervously. "I'm fine." He mumbled. I can still tell he was mad, but about what?

I think I'm gonna distract him from his anger. "Can you teach me how to make a fire?" I asked. "Sure." He said. I sat in front of the the logs and he sat behind me. He grabbed my hands. I looked at him and he blushed. I blushed for a second. "Ok, so you take both sticks and make it look like a lower case t and then you rub them together has hard as you can." He explained.

I did as he told me to and a light began to shine. "Now blow gently and put it on top of the other logs." He explained. I did as told and a fire came. "I did it I can't believe I actually did it!" I exclaimed of joy. "You did it!" He screamed of joy.

Then we high fived. "So, how come you've never seen or did any of these things before?" Hiccup asked. "Well, since where not around a crowd any more I can tell you." I said.

"Well, ever since I was little, I had this glowing hair and my adoptive mother told me never to tell anyone because if someone found out then they would kidnap me and try to cut my hair so they could stay young forever." I explained.

"That's why you never left your house only for school." He said. "Yep. But now I'm free from that place and now I can see new things and joy while I still can and find my parents." I exclaimed.

"Fires dying down. Looks like I better get some wood." Hiccup said. "No, no. I got it. You got last time and I'll get it this time." I said and then I ran off into the woods.

Hiccup's POV

I was watching Toothless sleep while I waited for Rapunzel to come back with more wood. Until I heard a noise. I quickly stood up. "Hello, who's there?" I yelled. No answer. Probably an animal. Until a man as huge as a bear came up to me. "D-dad." I startled.

Toothless woke up growling, but then my dad knocked out. "Toothless!" I screamed, but then my dad pulled me away from him. "What are you doing here?" I asked angrily. "I'm here to warn you about that girl." My father said. "Why would you care? You never care!" I screamed. "She's using you. You realize by the time she finds her parents she's going to leave you and forget about you." My father said. "How would you know?" I said angrily.

"I know because she never has cared about you, she care about you know, but not after she finds her parents. You should realize about everyone around you never cares about you. The bullies that bully you never care about you they don't care about what happens. The reason why your mother left was because of you. She never wanted you and that's why she left. Nobody cares about Hiccup." My father said.

Those words burned into my head like fire. "Nobody cares about Hiccup." Then my father my slashed a knife against my arm. "Ah!" I screamed in pain. "Here, cut yourself and make sure every cut counts." My father said. Then he left.

Rapunzel's POV

I was gathering wood when I saw mother standing in front of me. "Oh. Jeez Mother you scared me." I gasped. "We must get home dear, before it's to late." My mother said. Then she tried to pull my arm. "What? No." I said to her. "What do mean no? That boy is dangerous for you. One day when your not looking he's going to take your hair and never come back." She explained.

"What? I even know that's a lie because I'm the only one that can calm him down from his anger. He's the only guy that has been nice to me and showed me respect. He's nice and wonderful and I think likes me and I like him." I told mother. I heard a scream. It was Hiccup's scream. "Hiccup!" I panicked. "That boy is not good for you. I'm just warning you." She said and then she vanished out of thin air.

Then I ran towards Hiccup. When I finally got to our site. I saw Toothless was asleep and Hiccup was a train wreck. Black and blue bruises and cuts on his arms, leg, and one on his face. I dropped the wood and ran towards Hiccup.

"Hiccup! Who did this to you!" I panicked. "Me." He whispered softly. "What why would do that to yourself?" I asked. "I had a little visit from my father." He explained. His father made him do this. "How could you let your father make you do this?" I asked. "He didn't make me! I chose this. Those words burned into my head." He yelled angrily.

He shook violently in anger and sadness."Hiccup why?!" I asked. "You wanna know why. I'll tell you why. I never try to kill myself. I'm abused child. My mother left because of me. I was a mistake that was made. Nobody cares about me not even you. Nobody cares about Hiccup isn't that true." He cried.

"No it's not now let me heal you." I grabbed his arm. "Rapunzel NO!" he yelled. "I don't want to be healed I deserve these wounds." He cried. he fell to his knees. "Why does the world hate me! Why am even here in the first place!" He yelled. He began to cry. He cried quietly.

"Hiccup, I care about you even after we find my parents I will still care for you. I don't understand how you feel, but I know must hurt. Please, don't cry Hiccup. You're the only man that has showed me respect, kindness, and much more. I think I like you. No not just like you. I think I love you. With all my heart. I shall always care about you." I said.

I gave him a hug and kissed his cheek and then I held him as he cried.

Hiccup POV

I listened to her speech and that showed me she really does care. Those words still burn in my head like fire. It's hurts. That even my own father would say that. I can't believe she loves me. I looked up at her. "Are you ok?" She asked. "Yeah, I just need to sleep on it and I think I love you too." I said. "Can I heal you now?" She asked. "Maybe in the morning." I answered. "Ok." she said. "I love you and goodnight." I said.

"You too." She said. Then I set up my sleeping bag and went to sleep.
