Three years later...
"Well Ms. Scarlet James we would love if you would work for us but we have one question. What qualifies you more than any other person wanting this position?"
"Well Mr. Peters I am a determined person what ever I want I get." She said with a smirk on her face. " I can guarantee you I am what this company needs."
She spoke with such confidence and conviction, who could possibly turn her down.
Mr. Peters looked at Scarlet for a moment. His deep blue eyes gazing into hers. He questioned whether she would make a great associate. As seconds passed he finally spoke.
"Well then congratulations you are now an employee at Bates Industry." He said extending his hand out.
"You will begin work first thing tomorrow morning." He rose from his chair and handed her keys and paperwork. "One of my most trusted associates will show you the ropes and you can begin work."
"Thank you for your time Mr. Peters." She smiled and stepped out of the office.
As she walked out of the tallest building in New York satisfied with the fact she has an amazing job; working at one of the finest business industries in the world.
As she stepped into the cab she made a phone call.
"Yeah i got the job in the industry. I start work tomorrow and then i can start looking for the access codes." She says as she sits in traffic. "Look just tell the boss to be patient. We'll get what we need in time. As soon as i have enough of their trust we are in."
"Look I have to go. I'll call you when im settled in to the new apartment." She stepped out of the car and walked up the stairs to her new apartment complex. She wasn't very fond of people. She slowly crept into her room trying her best to go unnoticed by her new neighbors.
The apartment was cold and empty. She liked it like that. She liked being alone. The only thing she truly loved was her dog Bucky. He had been the only constant in her life and frankly the only thing keeping her sane.
As she began to heat up a frozen meal she had bought from the market there was a knock on the door.
"Who is it?" She said as she opened the door.
"Tommy what are you doing here I told you I didn't want you around here. I started my new life. I don't want to be involved."
"Look sweetheart whether you like it or not this is who you are. Your daddy got your hands dirty now you have to pay the bill." he said in an aggravated tone as if he had said this plenty of times before.
"Look the boss has a new opening I'm heading over tonight. I'm giving you the opportunity, are you in?"
"What's the job?" She said caving in.
"Alright sweetheart, we are just going to hit up a shop. Just for a few quick bucks." he says with a grin on his face.
"Alright just this once and I don't want you coming back I am not doing that kind of work anymore."
"Alright see you at 8 o'clock."he said walking out of the apartment
She began to worry; she had barely moved to a new city, a new job and was going to squeeze a bit of the university in. She had despised her father for as long as she could remember. He was a dead beat. He was her anchor and no matter how hard she tried she couldn't cut him loose.
The sound of pounding on her door as she realized she had drifted off and slept. Tommy had been waiting for her. it was now 8:10 they were behind schedule.
"What the hell SJ I told you eight." he said annoyed "I over slept now can we do this or not." she just looked at him
"Where are we going anyway?" She finally asked.
"We are hitting a book shop by the university. A few quick packages and were out this should be a piece of cake for you"
The entire lot was empty there was only a single light shining across from the university, a book shop.
"Why are we hitting a book store?" she asked in confusion
"Look these are antique books. the boss knows what he is doing. Now the plan is simple. Go in and stir up conversation I'll take care of the rest."
"Great." she said in sarcasm "as if I'm so great at small talk"
"Look sweet cheeks just do it."
She entered the small shop quickly scanning the room and seeing the packages in the back corner. Her thoughts are interrupted as she sees a a man 20 years old, about her age. He was tall lean but muscular. He had brown hair and eyes.
"Hello love what can I do for you?" He asked with a grin
"Oh well I just wanted to stop by and just browse the books I get a bit bored in my room and I just thought I would check the place out. Your name?" She asked
"Oh my apologies its Liam. Liam Payne." He said with a genuine smile
"And your name?"
"SJ is what everyone calls me. Can I use the restroom?"
"Yes of course it's third door in the back." he said
As she walked toward the door she had unlocked the back for Tommy.
Tommy had waited for her to return to Liam as he cautiously began to stock the packages into the trunk.
He had almost everything in the trunk when the bell at the front entrance rang causing Scarlet and Tommy to freeze.
"Hello Liam. How's the day been treating you." Scarlet did not look at the mysterious voice, she tried to hide her identity in case there was trouble. She saw Tommy was almost finished and decided it was time a perfect time to leave the store.
As she was exiting the door she felt a tap on her shoulder.
"Excuse me miss, you dropped this." He said handing her the pin she always carried .
She tried not to look at him but couldn't help but notice beautiful piercing emerald eyes. He looked into her eyes only seeing her bright eyes in the dark.
"Than.." her words were cut off by the sound of the back door closing
"Bloody Hell! Someone is trying to rob me!" Liam exclaims
Scarlet knew that was her cue to leave. She ran out the door and jumped into the car with Tommy and fled into the night.
So what do you think. Gonna get more intense as it progresses. Leave comments vote please.
